One In Three U.S. Jobs Are Low-Wage, Low-Benefits Jobs - 03/16/07

By Doug Cunningham

A new report from the Center for Economic and Policy Research says 44 million , or 1 in 3 U.S. jobs, are low-paying jobs and most of them have no benefits. Margie Waller is with the center’s Mobility Agenda.

: "What we're seeing really is a hollowing out of the middle class. And we are seeing a decline in those jobs that people can move into."

Waller says rising productivity has not increased wages and these jobs, with wages below $11.11 an hour, need to be improved.

: "We've got to turn the corner on this. To get back to where we were historically we've got to improve these jobs."

1. 'pukes want vast under-class without a living wage or access to medical care who in desperation
will be tempted to taking/resort to selling drugs so they can be hauled off to prison in staggering numbers, thereby showing how tough they are on drugs and crime.

2. Thank you Nafta and our open borders!
An increase in available workers = a decrease in wages and benefits. (or at least thats what my "racist" mind tells me)

The GOP goal from the jump was to turn this country into Guatemala. We're within one more Repuke WH term of being there.

7. It doesn't say that
It just says 1/3 is low pay no benefits. Doesn't necessarily follow that there's only one other choice.
