He's a regular at the Neighbors for Peace and Justice, San Fernando Valley's STUDIO CITY PEACE VIGIL. (How's that for a full credit line?) He's a very funny guy even in normal attire. His wife first told me about DU. She's a member.

You're also very fortunate to live in a blue area. In my little red burg, I attended a candlelight vigil just before the invasion of Iraq. I was totally amazed and impressed by the turnout. I lost count at 75 at the venue I chose and there were at least as many at a second site not far away. Both groups eventually got together and walked through the downtown area with our lighted candles. It was really beautiful and I wished, at the time, that the local newsrag was there to cover it.:-(

And they did, after the fact, but the pic that they chose to publish was of the lone "support the troops" guy who stands in the middle of town with his sign, encouraging passing cars to honk their horns if they agree with him... As far as I know, he's still there. He really appears to be a loon.:crazy:

Appreciate you grabbing the pix from our web site and posting here. So how does it get picked up for the home page? Someone here hoped for that, an' I have no idea how such things happen on DU. Are there monitors who troll the threads for interesting stuff to feature, or does someone have to submit it in some fashion?

In any case, glad people are able to see it here and get a double laugh.

get kicked to the main page. (After 5 rec's it goes to the Greatest Page, then moves up the page as the rec's are increased.)

Click on the star at the top of the page which says "Greatest," second icon on the left. Those threads which receive the most recommendations from DUers appear there and the best make The Home Page. We do have moderators, to keep order here (I've been one :-)), but it's up to members to recommend the threads that they think are the most important and want others to see. Check out the OP (original post) on any thread and you'll see "recommend" on the bottom left. All you have to do is click on that to recommend a thread that you think is important. Five recommendations sends a thread to The Greatest Page... :hi:
