Response from Flyers about Palin appearance
Dear Demokatgurrl:

Thanks for your email. We certainly appreciate your feedback.

As you are aware, the Philadelphia Flyers held a contest for the ultimate hockey mom. This is not about politics. This is about recognizing her for bringing attention to the sport of hockey. She has brought more attention to our sport in the past two months and is being recognized for her promoting our sport. Her appearance does not mean we support or do not support her political views.

Your comments are important to us and I will certainly share them with the organization.

My reply:

I am sorry, I do not believe you that it is "not about politics". Not until you have Joe Biden appear. No Flyers ticket purchases from me, and be prepared for some boos from the audience. I've heard from a lot of fellow fans who are none to happy about it, and it's getting some bad pub on ESPN radio.

1. Maybe everyone should boycott that game
No one shows up to watch an "average everyday the hockey mom" drop a puck.

9. Philly fans have been known to boo Santa Claus
Something tells me they're not going to be very intimidated by a pit bull wearing lipstick.

3. "Ultimate hockey mom"?
I've never seen her carrying a bag, holding a stick, organizing a fundraiser, working the concession stand, hosing down the outdoor rink, calling other parents, serving as a ref for the mini-mites, or even hitting the ice herself, so she can fuck right off.

11. Everything I've said is true.

But then, I live in Minnesota. On the other hand, she seems like the type of hockey mom who "buys out" of any fundraising and volunteering requirements, and shows up to jamborees with a cowbell and makes an ass out of herself cheering for just her kid.

It's all speculation, but when did that ever stop anyone? Maybe I'm taking out my own issues on her. But again, when does that ever stop anyone?

ETA: My point is, if she's going to blah-blah about what a hockeylicious mama she is, you'd think they could have at least come up with some pictures of her doing volunteer work for the arena, much as hunting photos and other photos have surfaced about her.

4. I'm On Their Side.
I find their explanation to be more than adequate.

And what's the big deal? You think people are going to vote for McCain now because of this? C'mon now.

6. If this were in the Spectrum back in the day when it was filled with real Union "Joe Six Packs" she
wouldn't make it out alive. The Red Army couldn't survive in the Spectrum for cryin out loud! Now a days the Center has a lot more rich folk who probably like McCain. I am hoping for three things on Saturday. A big win against the Rangers, a lot of boos, and a lot of batteries. Like they don't think that people are going to be winging those peach lipstick POS at Palin. LET'S GO FLYERS!!!

10. Politically speaking. They should have had her drop the puck at the Pens home opener. I think
she would have had more an impact and less chance of bodily harm in Western PA.
