I've Noticed a Pattern Here
Yes, we get frustrated and angry, but we generally keep it civil and promote law-abiding solutions. Our counterparts on the conservative side, however, are far more likely to talk about violent solutions to the problems we face. It's nothing new, of course. Let's face it, history has proven that the progressive reformers are virtually always more at risk of being harmed by would-be assassins.

I think it speaks to the essential difference between genuine, democracy-loving liberals and authoritarians. We're not always perfect at it, of course, but we generally believe in the potential of human beings to be and do better. We believe in at least the potential of a more civil civilization, of an authentically free, diverse and respectful society. I hope this mindset is growing, because the alternative is unthinkable.

2. If you want insight into the mind of...

...a conservative nutjob (approximately 50 percent of conservatives), all you have to do is
tune into right-wing hate radio.

Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Dennis Miller, Dennis Prager, Michael Savage, Glen Beck, Dr. Laura, Laura Ingram,
Bill OReily, and the thousands of local right-wing nut job radio hosts. They all preach in a hate-filled,
'whip-em-into-a-frenzy' tone. It wouldn't matter if these people hosted radio programs about knitting,
cooking or bear hunting. Their tone is so vitriolic and outrageous--that it sparks hysteria and creates
fault lines between these people and anyone else who doesn't share their views.

It's not their views---it's the hateful tone and the nonstop hateful bashing that promotes a war-like
mentality with these people.

This stuff has poisoned our country and our ability to work together.

4. Nope, another pattern
When stupid jocks all decide to go to college and become business majors (because what else are they gonna do in college?), you end up with ... well, what we have now.

5. If pressed, in order to declare a victory in the Culture War, would McCain support find bloodshed
acceptable?? -- look in their eyes.
