Illegal wars which result in millions of deaths are fine-just don't touch MY money??
It struck me this morning as the pundits were talking about how the economy is affecting the election--this financial collapse might have been avoided if a certain segment of the American population cared as much about ending an illegal war as they do about what happens to their personal bank accounts. Those people didn't seem to understand that if a group of "leaders" lacked integrity in one major area, it wouldn't be long before that same group moved on to f*ck something else up.

Don't get me wrong--Bush and republican ideology are ultimately responsible for what has occurred over the past 8 years. I'm just disgusted by the role some Americans played in this mess. Their selfish, narrow minded bigotry allowed Bush to destroy the country for four years longer than necessary.

Anyway, it looks like we will finally get to turn the page and hopefully become a prosperous nation again under President Obama. :D

2. No different than Ronnie Ray-gun
So long as people think (or can be conned) that the economy is doing well, about 75% of them will care less or actively cheerlead any military crap we do.

The one good thing, if it holds, is that they could not maintain the economic illusion long enough for McInsane to win. If we were looking at a 14,000 dow, sub $3 gas, and few foreclosures, this would be a much, much closer race.

3. Yep, its OK if our country tortures, rapes and murders in their name but don't mess with their 401k
I thought about that this earlier this morning.

I bet the Iraqis are not amused.

5. It's like that time when Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle
to say, "Hey, look, the people who are working in the meat-packing industry are payed shit for wages, and work in dangerous, unsafe conditions, and get all these horrible diseases and injuries and aren't even compensated when it's the company's fault they can't work anymore..."

and everyone was just, like, "Wait... there's WHAT touching my steak? My precious, precious steak?"

If I was Upton Sinclair I would have bitchslapped a lot of people for that. Fucking self-centered pricks.

11. Yes, I've thought a lot about that too -
some days with sadness, some days with anger, all days with deep horror at what we've done.
