Creditors are getting twitchy and collection agencies are agressive and competitive. Know your rights and make sure you know what is on your report. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4167985

You are entitled to a free annual report from the Big Three.

Be careful with other credit monitoring agencies. Requesting your report can automatically sign you up for services you may not want. Clicking through all of this to get your free reports can be annoying with all the offers they try to get you to accept, but ultimately it's worth the time. You are legally entitled to a FREE annual credit report. Make sure you do this once a year.

Cheers

1. We've got a free 2 yr service because
FUCKING COUNTRYWIDE had an employee steal personal data to sell to a third party!!!!

So far, we've been lucky and there haven't been any alerts. btw, there were quite a few DUer's that had this happen through Countrywide.

4. I believe the companies will charge you a fee for your credit rating.
I wouldn't bother looking at that unless you are actively in the market seeking credit. If all you want is the information on the report to make sure it's accurate you can pretty much skip the step of requesting your credit rating. Unless of course you're curious.
