I'm smack dab in the middie of fundie hell
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 10:58 PM by MichaelHarris
in a cabin in central Idaho flyfishing. There is an unsecure router where the neighbor lady home schools the towns 5 children. I kid you not, I may not make it out alive. About 500 yards from the entrance to the cabin rental place is a sign about 50 feet tall that proclaims the coming of this Yaheh guy. It says were all doomed or something. It's so freaky that I'm going to stop and take picture of it tomorrow and upload it so you can see it. That is if I can keep the connection. About everywhere you look there are these hand painted signs about the world ending and stuff.

I went down to the river flyfishing today and there were guys with giant rifles shoot cans and stuff. I'm no coward, I just don't think I look good in my blue Obama hat. It looks better under the seat :)

I really do hope to get that picture, it will freak you right out man. Giant Yahweh sign in a yard filled with wrecked hoopties (cars).

I forgot to add, one of the kids being home schooled is leaving this weekend to go to his church camp. I asked him what they did and he said our church has these military rangers who teach them how to survive. I asked him, "Army Rangers?" and he said, "No, our church has it's own army. Man I've got no words.....

Michael Harris, visiting the dangerous places so you don't have to.

It's where the rainbow trout are and I had no idea it was this bad. I know there were some people like that here but not like this. I've seen 15 or 20 mailboxes painted like Confederate flags.

According to our research of the Idaho and other state lists there were 5 registered sex offenders living in Pinehurst in early 2007.

LOL, there are only about 50 people living in this town and all of them are fundies.

4. Keep the hat off and your head down
and you should make it out all right.

If Armageddon doesn't happen soon, those fools will eventually let the signs be claimed by Ma Nature and wander away.

Fundies are already starting to get funny looks on their faces since prosperity theology is what sucked them into those churches in the first place. It's obvious prosperity is visiting only the preacher who's been sucking up a tenth of whatever they get.

We're all going to live in interesting times. The fundies aren't going to come out of this as they are now, either.

9. what's a "router"?
Sorry, I'm more of a computer geek, so when I see "router" I think "USB/cable router"--and in the "unsecure" part, and I'm wondering if you're tapping into this lady's internet connection out there in fundagelical boonies of Idaho, and she's been teaching the kids through online courses about the Rapture.

I'm guessing it's like a schoolhouse, but I just found it funny that I read the sentence, thought I understood it, but then had to go back. :P

It's NOT tin Foil, not at all. They want to take over the world.I kid you not. They are as cold as psychopaths about it.The church is partly above ground some of it off the radar. It has deep pockets, connections, and loyal blind obedient culties tons of 'em all itching for rewards and goodies from the yahweh monster.

JOHN GERBER: I feel it’s my call to be here. As a minister here in Morocco, it is difficult to bring the gospel freely because it is an Islamic country therefore there are some restrictions. It is against the law to convert a Muslim to Christianity.

WILLACY: Australian Pastor John Gerber has been in Morocco for seven years. He’s on a mission from the Assemblies of God Church.

JOHN GERBER: Under the circumstances now, I do the best that I can do which is set up this underground church of believers. It is an undercover operation if we could call it this way, it is underground.

WILLACY: Today he joins a service for foreign Christians but his real mission is to save the souls of those who dare not come here, Morocco’s Christian converts. John Gerber is acutely aware that in Morocco it’s a crime to proselytise – to preach, to convert Muslims to Christianity.

27. If I were you I'd give that neighbor lady a big old fat trout
and thank her for being so nice, then head home as soon as you can.

What is it about the wild places that attracts those fundie types? A friend fishes in Alaska every year with a fundie friend and they always manage to go to some out of the way KILLER salmon and grayling fishing spot where the Jesus freaks abide.

. . . and he said, "No, our church has its own army." What was it that Jahayzus said about enemies? Love thine enemy as thyself. How about that other worn out Jesusism of "if a man smiteth thee on the right cheek, turn also the left cheek to him." (It's been a LONG time so I may be butchering some of these verses)

Or how many times should I forgive a man? asked a disciple. And JC replied something along the lines of seven times seven times seven. Now that's a very forgiving Jesus. I guess these folks don't really READ the bible, just listen to spirit-filled preachers.

WhooooWeeeeeee!!

If this doesn't help you understand why our Founding Fathers were so adamant about keeping the State and the Church separate, then I don't know what will.

Good fishing to ya, Michael. Being a lunatic fisherman myself, I can understand how you might get sucked into a plight like this.

P.S. thanks for the warning.

34. Idaho is home base for survivalists.
They did an analysis of dangerous places to live, looking at populations, natural dangers, floods, fires, etc, and political targets. Idaho was deemed to be the safest place in the country to live.

There is a great documentary on the BBC about it by Louis Theroux.

And, yes, my morality level does lend itself to pomposity, at times. It's what centers me, but mostly these days, it's directed at the White male Christians for co-opting and destroying a very good belief system. These days I refer to myself as a Matthews Christian, and one that's in the winter pastures, too busy to find time to come in to attend church on Sundays.

49. "Yahweh"
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 06:22 PM by 14thColony
is considered the most probable pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton - the four Hebrew letters that represent the Name of God in the Talmud and all ancient Hebrew religious texts. The Tetragrammaton translates into the letters YHWH in English - Talmudic Hebrew didn't write down vowels, so you had to just know the right pronunciation, which no one today knows. Since it can also be transliterated as JHWH, the Tetragrammaton is also the origin of 'Jehovah,' another attempt to make a pronouncable Name of God from the four Hebrew consonants. Since the Name of God was NEVER spoken aloud in ancient Judaism, for them it didn't matter. In modern Bibles, most of the places it says "the Lord" in English are places the Tetragrammaton was found in the original Hebrew texts.

50. let me explain more about in-breeding
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 06:34 PM by Poseidan
You see, it's on a sliding-scale. If you have either too much in common (homosexual), or too little (with an animal), you will not be able to breed. If you have almost too much or too little, there will be birth defects. Based on my research, there is an optimal breeding range. White with white will not necessarily result in birth defects, but the chances are higher if the two whites (or two whatever's), come from the same small gene-pool (small town).
