Original message
I was just watching a segment on CNN where angry McCain supporters
were visibly shaking and asking McCain why Obama is ahead and telling him he needs to do something about it.

Considering their recent violent radicalization by Palin and McCain himself, I believe that when Obama gets elected, the lunatic right will be more extremely dangerous than any terrorist organization on the planet.

Their vicious hatred of liberals and of Obama will cause them to come completely un-glued. I am terrified of them and what they will do to those whom they see as being at fault for putting "that one" in office.

I hereby declare these right wing lunatics are domestic terrosists who it can be assumed will foment acts of homeland terroism against those whom they deem as their enemies. And, that's us.

40. How much control "They" have over the military remains to be seen...
in the case of attacking American citizens on American soil.

I'd say the rank and file American soldier is tired of being used and lied to, just like you and I are. Would the troops cold bloodedly gun down Americans, in the streets of America, for exercising their constitutional rights? Are the neoCons crazy enough to incite another civil war?

58. Yes.
I truly believe extremists have taken over the GOP. Extremists in both religious fundamentalism and corporate greed. Extremists don't care about hurting people who oppose them, for two reasons:

  • extremists dehumanize their perceived enemies, so they see killing killing their opposition and genocide as akin to killing roaches.
  • they're absolutely 100% sure that they're never wrong, and they're doing what's right for the country, so the means justify the ends.

This is very, very dangerous water we're treading these days.

78. You're exactly right about how crazy some of these fruitcakes are.
That is why it is VERY important, to be ready, at all times, to protect yourself and your family to the best of your ability. You have a right to defend yourself and your family from criminals and thugs and you may someday need to exercise that right, ALWAYS, be as ready as you can, to do just that.

If you let them scare you, they win...it's how terrorism works.

Terrorism

1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization. More...

well I don't think McCain would have the integrity or guts to try to put a stop to the extremist threat in his party. He's sewn the seeds of division among his supporters all along...he's complicit.

"How did Obama get this far?" they ask. These people are not used to democracy. You don't get what you want? Well, just take it, in the best Rethuglican strongarm style. You don't have to put up with what the majority wants.

11. Obama needs to fix that "terrorist" aspect of The Patriot Act...
that was used against protestors at the RNC convention.

Right-wing law enforcement, like the one introducing Palin in Florida (who said with barely veiled venom "Barack Hussein Obama"), will use that shit mercilessly for anyone with a hint of "liberal" or "democrat" tendencies.

They're trying to equate "liberal" and "democrat" with terrorist.

All it takes is a small faction of crazies, with authority, to commit unspeakable acts.

I was a child just old enough to understand in 1963 and a teen old enough to be afraid in 1968. We do not need another assassination or series of assassinations in this country.

Nothing more. They were used to holding the power in this country. They grew accustomed to bullying and frightening Americans into the corner by waving their flags at them, and now the tables have turned. Americans won't be intimidated by Lee Greenwood blasting on the sound system anymore because at the end of the day the bullshit patriotism isn't keeping us in homes, or healthcare or jobs. They can't brow beat us with their bibles any longer because we won't bow to any more of "God's" candidates . They are like spoiled children that have gotten their way for far too long. Mom says "NO" and they are throwing themselves on the floor in the candy aisle, and what they REALLY need is a good spanking..and come Nov. 4th, they're going to get one.

21. I think it's much deeper than that
They have been frightened out of their wits by years of unrelenting propaganda. These are angry, potentially violent people. I had a phone conversation with my sister a few weeks ago. I usually try to stick to family matters and the weather. She set the indoor record for using "raghead" the most times in a 15 minute conversation. She fully believes that if Obama gets elected, it will be the end of the US, as he will turn it over to the terrorists. And, she's a pretty smart person. However, she's married to a right-wing nut and their information sources are limited to Fox News, the NY Post, Rush, and O'Reilly -- period.

and have been for a long while. But I'm not talking so much about the freepers and their ilk, who might, if aggravated sufficiently, take out a few of us here or there or a presidential candidate. I'm talking about the Bushs and Cheneys and Rices of this world who threaten global catastrophe with their lies, distortion and greed. They are a threat to our national security -- and have been all along. That isn't an extreme thing to say -- in fact Al Gore said it back in 2003 in a speech at NYU hosted by move-on.org. He called for the resignations of most of the cabinet on national security grounds and he had every reason to do so. Wasn't reported much but it was a historical first, I think.

61. The difference between you and me
I don't fear these lunatics. I say bring 'em on. Their hatred and lunacy are not so scary IMO. I grew up in a pretty rough and tumble house long ago, all brothers, I was the only girl. I learned at an early age not to fear morons.

I would love 'em to show up to an event of mine. Their tough talk would get them nowhere. Their complaints might earn them a bloodstain.

66. Prior to 9/11 the worst act of terrorism in the US was committed by a RW lunatic
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 09:12 PM by Geek_Girl
so you have reason to be concerned. I've always been extremely concerned about domestic terrorist in our country especially during the '90's when Clinton was in office. They RW nut jobs were out for blood then and they'll go back to that I'm afraid.

But maybe the patriot act will come in handy after all.

75. Most violence is perpetrated by the right
They fire bombed black churches - they formed lynch mobs - they killed voter activists - they attacked union organizers - they bombed family planning clinics - they killed doctors - they ordered troops to Berkeley with bayonets (Reagan) - they ordered troops who fired on students in Ohio - they attacked and killed civil rights activists - they blew up a Federal building.

How violent did the left get? The best example or leftist terrorists in the U.S.A. is the Weather underground? What did they do? I mean besides cause some property damage, break Timothy Leary out of a minimum security prison, and spout Marxist propaganda and ultimately kill themselves. Or may ELF - more property damage - or some animal rights activists?

The point I am making here is that the violence has been rather one sided.

...at the very end of the CNN clip an African-American man in a very nice suit stands up and "begs" John McCain to "Do Something" about BO? Wow.. talk about inciting violence. You dont think this guy in the suit could work for the McCain Campaign do you?

73. They're too stupid and lazy.
They also fear real-life consequences of performing any *sigh* acts of "domestic terrorism".

There are too few people, in reality, that act upon their true convictions. In some ways, that's very good. In some, that's unfortunate. This is one of the very good examples.

76. I honestly have to say
I think we have that special gene called tolerance. We tolerated Bush for 8yrs and played the game by the rules as best we could and kept some semblance of dignity and although we did our share of b8tching, we still maintained the composure of good citizens. We adapt, we change, we overcome, we hope with good intentions for everybody.

I don't hate Republicans, I just can't figure out why they hate us so much. What did we do to them? Has anybody ever posed that question to find out why they see us with such contempt?

77. Welcome to DU!
It's several things, one, mainly, low self-esteem (as evidenced by voting against one's interests). Having an "enemy" makes them feel better about their selves that they loathe or are unsatisfied with.

81. yes
some people must always have an Enemy in order to survive. The Enemy becomes an acceptable receptacle for their own fears and frustrations. Sadly it's the only real bonding some people can manage. When churches have to resort to it, it's always a sick bid for survival.

79. They are cowardly racists who hide behind their bible
instead of reading it. They don't scare me a bit. They just can not believe that we are going to elect a black man. They use other excuses, but they are racists to the core.

84. It's a mistake to underestimate these right wing terrorists.
They're the ones who blow up churches.

They're the ones who blow up clinics.

They're the ones who blow up Federal buildings.

They are the one who hide behind the flag and the bible in a way no honest Christian or patriot would WHILE they blow up churches and federal buildings.

They're the ones who drag people to death behind their trucks.

They're the ones who stop people from voting.

They're the ones that call for bombing American cities over the radio.

They're the ones that call for riots.

They're the ones who spew hatred on call in shows like Washington Journal. You can hear them spitting into the phone.

They're the ones who cheer on Bush's illegal torture program.

They are the one that cheer our military bombing innocent civilians.

They're the ones that populate their television shows with material, talking points and even guests from known hate groups.

They're the ones who shoot up water containers in the desert so immigrants will die of thirst.

They're the ones that hide behind white robes to terrorize black Americans, gay Americans and other minorities.

They are cowards, they are ignorant and their cowardly ignorance makes them dangerous. It's a mistake to ignore them. They are like a two year old with a loaded gun. Except most two year olds have more love and more smarts in them than these people.
