For anyone who truly believes Obama is a terrorist, whether or not they have taken time to read anything more than the hysterical emails being passed around, or listen to anything other than Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, there is nothing I can say to change your mind and alleviate your fears.
He may be a terrorist; shit, you may be, too, for all I know. What I do know is that over the last two years I've read every nasty thing ever written about the guy (remember, Democrats eat their own and don't know how to follow in lockstep like the Republicans), and followed up on it from a variety of sources and viewpoints, and I'm confident he's not a terrorist.
But, unlike many out there, I don't claim to KNOW anything beyond a shadow of a doubt. Sadly, those who have such a condescending arrogance are just mimicking their idols (Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly), and it's not based on fact or truth. But facts and truths are a pesky inconvenience in the face of righteous ideology, so is humility.
The fact that he's black and has a "funny" name doesn't frighten me; quite frankly, the white CEOs we've seen on TV lately with the Wall Street bailout, who have been raping us and continue to do so, scare me a lot more, not to mention the elected officials who are supposed to be representing our interests as citizens, not those of corporations.
For those who would like to have an interesting discussion about our current political and social system and how so many things have been distorted over the last few decades, such as the word "liberal" (interesting article by Christian evangelical minister:
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1019-24.htm), please let me know. My whole intention is to encourage others to pay attention - don't blindly follow ANY party (or belief system), as that plays into the hands of those who manipulate and exploit. It's our duty to be informed, but it's not easy. It's much easier to follow sound bite philosophy and be encouraged to hate an easy target, rather than consider the complexities of the world and try to work through them and remain true to American ideals.
For those who believe Obama is a terrorist -- whether it's based in religious zealotry or racism or both - then you can take solace in praying to your God to save you from Obama, those who support him, all non-Christians, all people of color, gays and basically anyone who claims to hold any "liberal" or "democratic" beliefs. Surely as a "good Christian" you're not praying for God to smite Obama or his followers, are you?
If so, I think your Moral Majority, evangelical crowd who denounce adultery, prostitution, pornography, homosexuality, pedophilia and assorted other sins and, rightfully, crimes - though the majority of them have been found guilty of such sins (and crimes) themselves - are safe because they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Living the words of the bible don't seem to matter in this crazy modern world of the Religious Right, be it the old-school angry God, or the loving words of Jesus. Just say you accept Jesus, maybe throw in a few Hail Mary's -- ooops, remember that makes you a sinner in the eyes of fundamentalist evangelicals like Palin who think Catholics aren't Christian...oh well, that's another one of those pesky facts. Anyway, just say you accept Jesus and you're good to go!
So, just pray to get rid of people in the sixth paragraph and that should take care of things for you and you can have a much better world. Oh yeah, don't forget those murderous pro-choice moonbats. They aren't fit to be on this earth with you "Culture of Life" individuals who support the death penalty and are all for war, even wars of choice for oil or whatever, perhaps even "nuking the Middle East and making it a parking lot." Yes, that's the good ole' American Culture of Life crowd. No hypocrisy there.
In all seriousness, however...please do me a favor and quit calling yourself patriotic when you are too lazy to be an informed citizen and rely on others' talking points to fill your brain (unless you've served in our military, then you have every right to be uninformed, though it's still dangerous and sad, perhaps more so if you're active duty).
And, try to see that you're not pro-life, you're simply pro-birth, and please, oh please, quit saying you're Christian.
You're giving The United States of America and Jesus a bad name.
BTW, if the Rapture DOES happen, will you leave please leave this heathen your stuff?
:)
