The Market's a Roller Coaster Today. DOW under 9,300.
It lost about 400 points in under an hour, after a quick rally, after an opening 200 point drop.

Not for those with motion sickness.:puke:

1. Obviously the stock market isn't convinced that the main issues have been addressed.
I still believe pumping money to the American people would have been a better way to handle it. No one is buying anything except for the necessities right now, which is stalling economic growth. Until Americans start buying again, it won't matter.

Once again, our government went about implementing a fix by ignoring the problem.

5. It is both actually
we need to have a bottom up solution.... something more substantial than an economic stimulus by the way

And the credit markets needt to be unclogged

They may have to go where they don't want to, but they may have to nationalize the industry...

2. Remember those little toy tops you had as a child? It's like
one of those that is losing it's momentum and is wobbling. You know, that wobbling before it finally comes to a sudden stop?

3. I didn't think it would get this close to the 9000 floor so soon. I guess I'll have to reassess it.
If it falls through the floor, it'll be uncharted territory beyond that.

4. Below 9000, what will happen?
Panic selling, more erratic behavior?

7. Yesterday the PPT kept it above 9600. Today it is 9300.
If I had some cash I could make some money daytrading on the PPT.

10. you said that yesterday and it wasn't true then, either
9600 had some support for about ten minutes, and then the bottom dropped out. DOW opened at 9437 this AM. PPT, if they were trying for 9600, failed miserably.

13. They did fail, but they tried,
they bounced it a couple of times.

They are clearly trying to keep it above 9300, today, and failing again.

8. I have a question...
Wall street got excited by a cut in the interest rate..Now that might make consumers more willing to get loans but since its the BANKS who are really wary of giving credit/loans, is this really going to help? (it MIGHT make some people's mortgages better I suppose)

9. Not just today, the DOW has been on a steady downward spiral
The Dow has lost over a third. Down five thousand points. Is it any wonder the markets are worried?

11. but but but others here on DU say "don't panic! it's merely an adjustment!"
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 10:50 AM by Javaman
a few hundred points either way is an adjustment.

close to a 5000 point loss, one 1/3 of the market evaporating is NOT an adjustment.
