"The straight talk express lost a wheel."
Sen. Obama tossed off that one liner in the course of tonight's debate. A gentle jab, yet it goes to the quick of the thing.

McCain's maverick "brand" is history. And the realities of his agenda are more deregulation, more dismantling of federal safety nets, more risk at the public's expense and more of the same failed policies we've seen for the last eight years.

Thanks Sen. Obama. Well done.

8. Negatives In Debates Don't Work...Good Zingers Do...
It was fun watching the CNN meter and you would see how Gramps nasty tone and attacks got a negative response...it looks childish. These forums are as much who looks Presidential as much as who sounds like. Anger and ridicule don't work very well as they come off very mean-spirited. However, a good zinger or one-liner can be remembered and make a very strong impact. There's a delicate balance on how this is done, and Senator Obama appears to know how and when to drop the bomb or when to lay back.

What was most interesting was to see the scuffles between Gramps and Broke Tomjaw...trying to "job the refs" and Obama just sat back and let Gramps hang himself.

Overall, Senator Obama understands the stagecraft that goes into the political world and his campaign has played it masterfully from the very start. While Gramps lurches from one distractions to another or moves people in and out, Obama's had the same staff and message from the start. It's really starting to show down the stretch...as I expected it would.
