Schwarzenegger recall petition rejected

Two legal requirements were not met, the secretary of state's office says. It's not clear whether the state prison guard union will resubmit the petition.

SACRAMENTO -- California Secretary of State Debra Bowen today rejected a petition submitted by the state prison guards' union for a recall campaign against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying it did not meet legal requirements.

In a letter to Mike Jimenez, president of the California Correctional Peace Officers Assn., an aide to Bowen said the petition, submitted Sept. 29, failed to include Schwarzenegger's response, filed nearly two weeks earlier, to the union's intention to try to recall him.

2. Prison guards union is well known in CA for assholery
Through a lot of well placed bribes to politicians they've managed to become the highest paid group of state employees around. I think their pay scale now starts at about 80 grand and with overtime they routinely make about 150k per year. One year Ahnuld actually grew a pair and told them to get hosed. No more ridiculous salary increases. They've since turned on him.

Unfortunately these douchebags are even more unpopular than Shickelgruber and their petition never got off the ground.
