I'm watching MSNBC as they broadcast Palin's latest smear attempt live, despite the fact that they've allowed themselves to be herded and corralled away from asking her direct questions.

Hell, they aren't even allowed to question the crowd . . .

Palin staff keep journalists locked inside press area to prevent them from writing ‘negative things.’»

During Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) speech in Florida this morning, campaign staffers kept the press locked out of the park and away from supporters attending the speech: (http://blogs.tampabay.com/breakingnews/2008/10/under-the-watch.html )

Constantly under the watchful eyes of security, the media wasn’t permitted to wander around inside Coachman Park to talk to Sarah Palin supporters. When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated, an escort would dart out of nowhere and confront him or her and say, “Can I help you?” and turn the person around.

When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn’t allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written. The campaign wanted to avoid that possibility Monday.

Palin has still yet to give a single press conference since being tapped as Sen. John McCain’s running mate on August 29.

1. No matter how ugly the personality, peoples heads will be turned by moderate attractiveness.

has on Savannah Davies, who is "covering the Palin campaign". Is there a separate "Palin Campaign"? Is there a reporter who is following Biden the same way, and how come he or she never gets invited on the show?

5. They did the same with Bush!
The press love to be beaten down. If you are nice to them, they will kick your ass.

6. Imagine the Democrats doing something like this.
While some of the press has revolted, most actually got trained into submission from eight years of the Bush administration.

It might be worth noting that one of the first thing dictators do when they take over a country is take over the means of communication. Shortly thereafter, they 'deal' with dissenting journalists. Dealing may mean anything from physically destroying their equipment to imprisonment to death. But that would never happen here, would it?
