PROPAGANDA WORKS REPETITION WORKS THE BIG LIE WORKS PROPAGANDA WORKS REPETITION WORKS THE BIG LIE WORKS PROPAGANDA WORKS REPETITION WORKS THE BIG LIE WORKS PROPAGANDA WORKS REPETITION WORKS THE BIG LIE WORKS
It almost always has for tyrants and it almost always will. Whenever people catch on to the old methods, new methods are swiftly put in place.
If ol' B'rer Rabbit can't get what he wants one way, then ol' B'rer Rabbit'll just have to find another way to get what he wants.
I'll always remember the Bushie Senator played by Burl Ives in Roots and how he explained it just that way...how so much of the world works...but MOST relevant to how tyrants and Bushies and Nazis and Commies and Pinochet and Marcos and Caesar work.
And in 10,000 years of history, no society (or very few societies, that is certain) has EVER successfully educated itself to the point where it could prevent nascent Totalitarianism once it got past a certain point. Has EVER been able to get that level of awareness to spread to the public beyond the hated Intellectualsm, such attitudes that have been shown to be the ONLY thing that can resist tyranny.
But with roughly 1% of the people on the side of the Intellectual, time and time and time and time and TIME again tyrants have found the Intellectuals and the Enlgihtenment values they represent have never been difficult to sweep aside, at least in the beginning.
How much do you think this hurts a person who chose their monniker to be tom_paine to admit that? And NO, I am NOT advocating giving up...NOT IN THE LEAST!
But objective reality is objective reality, and we dare not turn aside from it's bright glare, even if painful.
Again and again and again and AGAIN it happens. And one generation to the next, people are ever clueless until it is too late.
With a few brief exceptions in world and American history -thanks original Tom Paine and Founding Dads, Union Men and Women who beat the Bushies in 1865, and all the rest, for giving us some of them to live in briefly.
But, Dear God, what a Greek Tragedy most of human history has been for regular people! What a Greek Tragedy awaits us now unless we pull off the Hail Mary here, and I am NOT just speaking of getting Obama elected...that is only the beginning of our work.
