The Mouth Opens and Idols Fall
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 05:46 AM by MichaelHarris
“Our opponent … is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” Sarah Palin

With those words Ms Palin opened a door, the door to the rights biggest hero, Ronald Reagan. Trying to tie Obama to another man's actions is so silly that in borders on the absurd. It truly is a last ditch effort for the McCain campaign. We could get all silly and talk about George Washington and his friendship with Benedict Arnold or we could even discuss George Bushes grandfather and his ties to Nazi Germany. None of that matters. Reagan? That matters to Republicans, that is their John Wayne.

Let me quote a letter from Ronald Reagan here written to Hugh Hefner,

"My first four votes were cast for F. D. R., my fifth for Harry Truman. Following World War II my interest in liberalism and my fear of “neo-fascism” led to my serving on the board of directors of an organization later exposed as a “Communist Front,” namely the “Hollywood Independent Citizens Comm. of the Arts, Sciences& Professions”! Incidentally Mr. Trumbo was also on that board."

Mr. Trumbo here is Dalton Trumbo, one of the Hollywood Ten who were blacklisted for their supposed Communist activities. Another member of this Hollywood Independent Citizens Comm. with Reagan was John Howard Lawson. Mr. Lawson was an American writer and head of the Hollywood division of the American Communist Party. See where this goes Ms Palin, was Ronald Reagan palling around with Communists?

Reagan's letter ends in a cryptic, contridicting paragraph,

"I, like you, will defend the right of any American to openly practise & preach any political philosophy from monarchy to anarchy....Hollywood has no blacklist, Hollywood does have a list handed to it by millions of “movie goers” who have said “we don’t want and will not pay to see pictures made by or with these people we consider traitors.” On this list were many names of people we in Hollywood felt were wrongly suspect. I personally served on a committee that succeeded in clearing these people. Today any person who feels he is a victim of discrimination because of his political beliefs can avail himself of machinery to solve this problem."

Was there a list or not? If as he says, "Hollywood has no blacklist", then how could he possibly serve, "on a committee that succeeded in clearing these people"? These are his own words, they seem to show a man conflicted in his role during these dark times of Hollywood. What was his early role with these so-called Hollywood "Communists"? What was his agenda? Did they spurn him and his Commie ways? Was he not Commie enough for them?

You see Ms Palin and all you trolls, even Saint Ronnie has stories. Stories you may not want to hear. Was he the big "Commie-Killer" that history has come to recall? Was his union organizing in the 30s and 40s something different? Was he a Commie Rat Bastard?

You know the answer, just as you know Obama is no terrorist. Stop being silly. Tell your candidate she is a blithering idiot, tell her to stop feeding you crap.

4. Thank you for this
I hope Obama is calm and ready with a list like this one!

The hatred the McCain campaign is inciting with their BS is very dangerous and it should be trounced in a forum where his supporters are listening.

they selectively choose what to remember and to forget. Sometimes we have to remind them.

9. Ronald Reagan was a wealth opportunist just out for himself
He used his acting ability to enrich himself at the expense of the 'little people'.
