Letter from my Congressman on Bailout
Dear Mr. ..............

This is in response to your Email message registering your views on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. This legislation provides $700 billion in financial assistance to help stabilize the economy.

I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important issue. Although Congressional leaders worked in a bipartisan effort to improve the terms of the economic rescue plan that Treasury Secretary Paulson proposed, I do not believe that the final product was in the best interests of the American taxpayer.

I voted NO today for the same reason that I voted against this bill on Monday. The financial recovering legislation does not address the needs of those Americans who have lost their homes to foreclosures. Last month, over 300,000 households lost their homes. They didn't get a bailout. This bill is not a cure for the real problem. We should be helping to ensure that hard working Americans do not lose their homes to risky credit schemes by an under regulated industry. The unscrupulous behavior of some companies has created the financial crisis that plagues the credit liquidity market and it is time that those responsible were held accountable.

Thank you for your correspondence. I hope you will continue to keep me apprised of your views on the vital issues facing our nation.

Sincerely,

Wm. Lacy Clay
Member of Congress

1. I only wish that there were more like her representing all of us.
Sept 14th was our Black Sunday. The beginning of a very dark period in our history.

:grr::grr:

3. My Rep. Price, D4, N.C. won't be getting mine either. His YES vote was the last straw.
No impeachment support because it would "take too long and be too disruptive."

No cutoff of Iraq War funding because he felt there was too much at stake and the situation would get worse.

He's become a Pelosi clone. Too many years in the heady atmosphere of D.C.

TIME FOR CHANGE.

9. No, barbtries, I think he has a lock on the Dems in the 4th. 30-year party member, Rep
for at least 20 years, committee chairman, liberal.

I know him and he is a good man. But he is no longer representing me on the BIG ISSUES. He apparently is more attuned to the Pelosi arm of the party.

Before the Iraq War funding vote he was at a Q&A where a huge percentage of the audience was in favor of NOT FUNDING any additional funds and beginning to bring the troops home. Nonetheless, he voted for the additional funding.

I'm not the only citizen I know who is fed up with him, but we are not in the Democratic Party organization--just voters.

I could forgive him if he had differed with me on some other matter. But the three that I mentioned are THE BIGGIES for me in the last two or three years. They are make-or-break issues and he broke.
