MSNBC Live Vote: Bailout
How confident are you that the financial bailout package approved by Congress will ease the economic crisis? * 22920 responses

Very. All that money will ease the credit crunch and that will help the overall economy.
4.6%

Fairly. It seems that it should work, but there are many questions.
11%

Somewhat. This addresses one part of the crisis, but it doesn't address other aspects.
27%

Not at all. This will help Wall Street, but it isn't going to do anything for the rest of us.

6. That's it in a nutshell.
"Give us $700 Billion or we'll take your home, your 401K and your bank account." I feel like we ought to be calling the cops.

8. Even the most avid supporters of this bill admit that it might be of little or no benefit
So congress has committed the American tax-payer to obligate themselves for 700 billion dollars of additional debt that might not fix the problem. Sometimes doing something only for the sake of being seen as doing something is the worst motive for action. I was not dead set against the idea of government involvement but wanted things done in a more measured fashion so when there was a commitment, we could have some assurance of the benefit.
I'm afraid that compounding the problem, was not forcing the Repub House members to come up with at least half their membership to vote in favor of the bill. This might well have an adverse effect on the numbers of seats in the House and Senate that we thought we might pick up. You can be certain that the Repubs will be hammering their Dem opponents on this bail-out of Wall Street.
