9/11 mastermind (Khalid Sheikh Mohammed) confesses in Guantanamo
Yahoo News ^ | 3/14/07 | LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated Press Writer

Posted on 03/14/2007 4:38:58 PM PDT by Chi-townChief

WASHINGTON - Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of others during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the military.

Mohammed claimed responsibility for planning, financing, and training others for bombings ranging from the 1993 attack at the World Trade Center to the attempt by would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes.

In all, Mohammed said he was responsible for planning 29 individual attacks, including many that were never executed. The comments were included in a 26-page transcript released by the Pentagon, which also blacked out some of his remarks.

MSM investigative reporters will have to come forward quickly with rumors and unnamed sources to "prove" that poor Khalid was coerced, even tortured, into these admissions.

This presents a real dilemna for the moonbats.

Chief mastermind behind the Sept. 11 attacks: moonbats won't care.

The 1993 World Trade Center bombing: moonbats won't care.

Plotting the October 2002 terrorist attack in Bali, Indonesia: moonbats won't care.

A plot to assassinate uber-lord-of-moonbats Bill Clinton: Uh oh. He plotted to off a Democrat. There's some real trouble! They either have to say they don't care about Clintoon, or they have to acknowledge that the evil GW Bush might have actually caught a real honest-to-goodness terrorist! Prepare for moonbat heads to explode!

Wait, what am I saying? They'll just say he was tortured to give these confessions and therefore they aren't credible. Just watch, this is SO predictable...

BTW, for the record, even if that was the ONLY thing this terrorist tried to do, I'd say fry him. You do NOT attempt to assassinate a US President, no matter whom that may be. Even a President I loathed and still loath.

This is huge.

Take note.

The 1993 bombing did involve the Iraqi government.

This means that Al Qaeda and Iraq did work together for the 1993 and 2001 WTC attacks.

Am I missing something here?

US Federal Judge Baer established in his ruling that the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center did involve the government of Saddam Hussein.

It has been a sacrosanct principal of objection that the Iraq war and 911 have nothing to do with each other.

If this Al Qaeda mastermind is confessing that he was involved in the 1993 bombing that it proves coordination between Al Qaeda and the government of Iraq prior to 911. It also makes it improbable and near impossible that the Iraqi government did not assist in the attacks of 911. Even the limited knowledge of the attacks results in 1993 would have been useful in planning larger attacks which would actually knock down the towers. This was the orginal plan of the 1993 attacks. The attackers were suprised by the resiliency of the towers and even those caught for the 93 attacks promised that someday they would be repeated and destroy the towers.

You're not missing a thing.

KSM was involved in the 1993 WTC bombing. The bomb maker in the attack, Abdul Rahman Yasin, fled to Iraq and lived for 10 years on Saddam's payroll.

If Saddam was directly connected to the '93 attack, and the '93 attack is connected to 9/11, Saddam Hussein is connected to the people behind the 9/11.

But then, this has been an open and shut case since Day One to anyone with a shred of common sense. But we may be nearing a time when it actually becomes official.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of others during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the Pentagon.

Mohammed claimed responsibility for planning, financing, and training others for bombings ranging from the 1993 attack at the World Trade Center to the attempt by would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes.

Mohammed also admitted to planning assassination attempts on former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, as well as Pope John Paul II.

In all, Mohammed said he was responsible for planning 29 individual attacks, including many that were never executed. The comments were included in a 26-page transcript released by the Pentagon, which also blacked out some of his remarks.

The Pentagon also released transcripts of the hearings of Abu Faraj al-Libi and Ramzi Binalshibh.

Binalshibh is suspected of helping Mohammed with the Sept. 11, 2001, attack plan and is also linked to a foiled plot to crash aircraft into London's Heathrow Airport. Al-Libi is a Libyan who reportedly masterminded two bombings 11 days apart in Pakistan in December 2003 that targeted President Pervez Musharraf for his support of the U.S.-led war on terror.

The hearings, which began last Friday, are being conducted in secret by the military as it tries to determine whether 14 alleged terrorist leaders should be declared "enemy combatants" who can be held indefinitely and prosecuted by military tribunals.

Hearings for six of the 14 have already been held. The military is not allowing reporters to attend the sessions and is limiting the information it provides about them, arguing that it wants to prevent sensitive information from being disclosed.

The 14 were moved in September from a secret CIA prison network to the prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, where about 385 men are being held on suspicion of links to Al Qaeda or the Taliban.

This is a developing story. Refresh the page for updates.

No word if that includes the 1993 assassination attempt of Bush 41 and the Emir of Kuwait, which Saddam was found guilty of ordering.

I'm thinking the Saddam angle of the KSM story will come out separately, on its own. If it does, it will be the biggest earthquake DC has seen in years.

I know that I am. I don't see where the article refers to Iraq. '93 was Ramzi Yousef whose partner, Abdul Rahman Yasin was living in Baghdad before the bombing, but connections between him and Saddam's government are tenuous. I don't see how KSM's confession links Saddam to 9/11.

1. My favorite is the comment about the 'proof' of Al-Qaeda and Iraq working
together to plot the 93 WTC attack. So therefore, AQ and Iraq MUST have worked together on the 2001 attack. If I recall correctly, that was the claim of one author in one discredited book that the admin and their lackeys use as the gospel. Was it Judith Regan?

show what the "other" side is saying. What upsets me is that these "trials" are held in secret. How in the hell do we know that this "trial" is even going on? After all the lies that this government has spread, how can we believe them?

If even half of what they say he planned is true, he was one busy fellow. I'd love to look at the time line. He planned the shoe bomber? That's priceless!

8. The part I don't get is
why some how this justifies Gitmo. He said this at his actual hearing. Couldn't they of had this hearing anywhere? It certainly doesn't say confessed after hours of torture. If the mans guilty why are the freeptards so afraid of a real trial? I mean why do these people HATE America so much they don't trust our justice system to put what sounds like an incredibly guilty person in jail?
