'President' Hillary promises US will stay in Iraq
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/15/washington/15clinton.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

What a surprise. Why babysit a civil war from a remote location? Go, Hillary!

WASHINGTON, March 14 — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton foresees a “remaining military as well as political mission” in Iraq, and says that if elected president, she would keep a reduced military force there to fight Al Qaeda, deter Iranian aggression, protect the Kurds and possibly support the Iraqi military.

In a half-hour interview on Tuesday in her Senate office, Mrs. Clinton said the scaled-down American military force that she would maintain would stay off the streets in Baghdad and would no longer try to protect Iraqis from sectarian violence — even if it descended into ethnic cleansing.

In outlining how she would handle Iraq as commander in chief, Mrs. Clinton articulated a more nuanced position than the one she has provided at her campaign events, where she has backed the goal of “bringing the troops home.”

She said in the interview that there were “remaining vital national security interests in Iraq” that would require a continuing deployment of American troops.

2. Huh
"to fight Al Qaeda, deter Iranian aggression, protect the Kurds and possibly support the Iraqi military"

1- fight al qaeda - okay...

2- deter iranian aggressions - whatever but okay..

3- protect the kurds - protect them from what exactly?

4- possibly support the Iraqi military - possibly????

3. Basically, what we're doing now in smaller numbers
Which will make us juicier targets. Casualties will taper off to about 20-100 a year and the sheeple here won't notice; but we'll have the oil. I won't vote for Hilary even if she is the candidate because it's clear to me she's being run by the same puppetmasters as Bushco. I'll stay home first.

5. Well, we'll have to protect that high dollar embassy and
maybe her position would allow for protecting the oil pipe lines too. As far as I'm concerned she's no better than the repukes I dislike greatly. How she has lived with Bill all these years and not managed in incorporate a bit of his finesse escapes me.

6. Hillary: The least exciting
of a pretty damn uninspiring field of candidates. None of the people I really want, & think could win, are running. Gore, Feingold. More & more, a quiet little voice in the back of my head is whispering "Kucinich. Kucinich."

And, yeah, I'll vote for Hill if she (gulp) gets the nom. I mean, what the hell? If ya gotta vote for who gets to bugger ya with a dildo, ya vote for the one who promises to use Vaseline.

9. Well then it's time for the empire to fall
Because that's just wrong on every level imaginable. I can't call myself an American anymore if someone doesn't stop this imperialistic madness.

8. Oh no it's too much, if only people as a whole researched the issues than vote on popularity.

10. There is a truth we must all learn to accept:
No matter who becomes President--even if we had a
"real Liberal" who won the presidency. The fact is
a smaller contingency of troops will remain in Iraq
for a long time. No one in power will say this
but our old buddy and needed friend__-- OIL, must
be protected. We have saber rattled Iran until
they are more paranoid than ever. (Not as paranoid
as some in our own country) but paranoid enough
that if Iran sees itself as being threatened,
there is fear on our part--Iran might try to interfere
with passage of Oil through the Strait of H.. Our
presence is required to counter this.

Secondly, the wider war against Islamic
radicals, who use Terrorism as a tactic, will
continue for years to come. Iraq War has distracted
from this. This will continue for a long time.

Do I like this --No, No, No. I will sound a like
a conspiracy theorist--I am not. I do believe
there are powers, forces, whatever who have
more influence than citizens at times.

I am not necessarily defending Hillary's position.

I am saying to all, consider what I have said--then
think of a candidate who will best represent your
and Americans citizens' interest while in this
quandry.
