I'm SO TIRED of that bullshit - McCain's no "maverick," he never was. He went against Bush because Bush shat on him and his family in SC, and he never forgave him for it (which I don't blame him for, actually, which makes all the phoney kissing and hugging doubly nauseous). So McCain stuck it to Bush and Republicans every chance he could out of revenge. It had nothing whatsoever to do with idealogy or policy - he HAS NO idealogies or policies, he believes in absolutely nothing except his own importance and self-aggrandizement.
