Biggest difference I noticed tonight.
Republicans are finally admitting that mistakes were made. Palin basically wanted forward thinking and not looking backwards, but finally stated that there were big mistakes made during the Bush terms. Does anybody remember the exact wordage? My only criticism is that you have to talk about the past, in order to appraise what you're going to do in the future.

And the second thing was when a Republican pundit stated that no Republican was going to win on the Iraq issue, and admitted that Republicans had a terrible week this week because of the Wall Street problems.

So, finally they're admitting it out in the open, that the mistakes were all theirs. That's a huge step for them.

2. Didn't that shock you?
At first I thought she had made a mistake by winging it.

11. Yeah, blunders
But then she softened it by saying that all administrations had made blunders. Of course, for Palin, the idea of solving any problems that have been created has to go forward in a vacuum. That is, whatever went before just doesn't factor in for her, especially if there is blame to be apportioned to her or her tribe.

4. Yes, but note how she doesn't want us pointing backward
If the guy on the top of my ticket had voted with Bush 95% of the time, I wouldn't want people pointing back either.

7. I read a bio about her that said she got rid of people who would question
her decisions because she didn't like thinking backwards. She wanted forward thinkers. I think it would be nice to analyze this because this is a clue as to why Republicans don't know how to pull themselves away from following a bad idea.

5. I don't care, and neither do their sheep...
...we, as Democrats, might appreciate the sentiment, but their followers (read: "zombies") will just see it as their superiority over us to be able to admit their failures. They'll go for them anyway. We need to focus on those who still have their intellects.

(I really wish I belonged to a different species. Preferably feline. 'Nuff said.)

Any of them up for election will need to do the same. She severed completely her relationship with the bushies at least in public. She did well enough to stop the McSame hemorrhage.

it's called ACCOUNTABILITY.....

That is all..but she wouldn't DARE comment on that, and that's what I think Biden should have said

12. Do you remember when she said, "There you go again, Joe"
Well, she said it when she was chiding him for thinking backwards, yet, she couldn't stop bringing up Reagan over and over again, including the "There you go again"

I guess Palin's idea of change, is going back to the good ole Reagan years when we still had the kitchen sink. Now we don't even have that.

15. Fact is, she never once in this debate drew a line connecting her convictions
on certain issues with McCain, only saying that he was a MAVERICK, as was she on voting on issues in the Senate. Not impressive, to say the least....

So much that if there never was a president Reagan then she probably wouldn't have much to say!

I also loved her question-dodging tonight...a true ( not really ) pro, she was

And that's why the GOP doesn't want anyone looking backward. It could also be called "investigating."

26. Sure, she admitted mistakes, BUT
She said something like "mistakes were made, just like in every administration", as if Bush's mistakes weren't infinitely worse than anything any other president has done.

I half expected her to say "Mistakes, shmistakes...who cares?"

with the chiding of Biden and finger-pointing, but as I pointed out in another post, it is all about accountability....she would NEVER have an answer to that one.

To defend the way in which this administration has performed in the past eight years, in any way, shape, or form to me is the ULTIMATE act of treason against America. Make of that what you will....

She seems to support this act of treason...let us hope that America doesn't vote stupid this time around

30. The past would reward the party in office and give them four
more years. Since it was an abysmal failure they don't want to be reminded of it because they want to go back to the White House. If they can intimidate the Democrats to stop talking about the failures of the past they can sidestep it. They forget that people out there are losing their homes and their jobs and basically life as they knew it before George Bush. The public will gamble on Obama not McCain to get their life back!

Admitting they were failures will mean they'll have to let go of the wheel of the bus and go sit in the back for a term.

Gee - the building you designed just fell down and killed everyone in it.

There ya go again - always looking backwards - how about we look at my latest design here!
