Because it was sincere. I think you could see he didn't want to bring up his family because it may appear like exploitation, but it just naturally occured and his reaction wasn't phony. That scored him points. Also, I would say near the halfway point he really began to takeover. Palin's attempts to bring it down to a superficial level (I"m a hockey mom!)were transparent and most people won't buy it.

Joe Biden was terrific.

13. Palin did not do well in terms of emotional communication.

She is unable to express different feelings in her face or voice. This suggests a problem with her emotional health. She did not win the debate. Inconsistency between facial expressions and words prevent make her less credible.

Palin was constantly cheery. Her voice and her face have only one tone: unwarranted optimism. That reveals at the best extreme naivete, and at the worst, an overconfident rather uncaring personality. I got the impression from her body language that she cares a lot about Sarah Palin but not so much about other people.

Biden came across as a wonderfully compassionate, kind person who can relate to other people. He came across as mature. Paliln came across as rather immature.

In addition, Palin's grammar is atrocious.

16. I Yelled at the TV Again

I was furious at her not answering questions and her lies. Why wasn't she asked about being mayor and what a horrible job she did. If I understand correctly she left the city in massive debt. I finally muted when she talked as I could feel my heart pounding. As a woman, I am angry what she is doing to women politicians. That folksy bs is insulting.

Biden's final statement made me cry. He is wonderful.
