We've been looking for land for a few years now. Is the price of land decreasing along with housing, or is it as strong, or heaven forbid stronger, than it was 6 months ago?

1. I would imagine it depends on your market. In many areas the majority of a home 's
value is actually the land.

2. location, location, location
the real estate crisis is not effecting all of the nation in the same way, either. places in which massive real estate speculation has gone on for years are the ones now facing massive devaluation.

4. Depends on the area
Where I live there is a lot of land available but the prices for land as well as housing here have been increasing very slowly throughout this housing mess. There is no new development and few foreclosures. I'm sure if you look in the right place you will be able to find an excellent deal on land right now....if you can get a loan.

6. I picked up a residential plot on the Washington coast
at bargain basement prices last year. Just received tax info - assessed value is now 10% over what we paid. Admittedly, it's cheap land, but I'm pleased to see that the value is going in the right direction. I'm not saying I know anything about values across the country or broader trends. I'm just providing an anecdote.
