A guy who graduates at the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy does not get to fly jets. The only reason McCain did, was because his father was an admiral.

First, graduates of the Naval Academy (regardless of class standing) have first call for the any slots in flight school. This puts them ahead of all ROTC and OCS graduates for flight training. Second. McCains first flight assignments were in prop driven sky raiders. He shifted to A4 in the mid 60s because the sky raiders were being phased out. A4 pilots were needed very badly to support President Johnson's bombing campaign against North Vietnam.

Like so many other things he should not be credited for, McCain did not write the lyrics to "Bomb Iran" (tune of Barbara Ann). That song was written and sung by a 50s revival band named Vince Vance and the Valiants, back in the late 70s. That band played at my high school Homecoming party (a bit earlier in the decade).
