CNN (The New Fox) just said you won't be able to get car loans (BULLSHIT) and you won't be able to go out to dinner. Fuck me but I don't go out to dinner now.

1. I know
Pathetic, isn't it? It shames me that many DUers are buying into and spewing that crap. The Federal reserve can liquefy the system at any time.

"The federal reserve can liquefy the system at any time" - that's hilarious, though probably not for the reasons you intended.

16. usually the fed "adds liquidity to" the system.
"liquifying" the system conjures up a whole different image!

18. Yes, it could be taken both ways
And they could do either- either thin the soup or put a bullet in it's head. Either thing would be worth watching

2. and when we whip through this trillion bucks buying up cars and dining
what then?

Human beings, collectively speaking, have ZERO vision.

This is a red letter day in the Darwin Awards of human history.

We're about to walk off the cliff... why? So we can keep going to whatever crappy chain restaurants happen to be left standing.

f'king brilliant. :eyes: :argh: :grr:

3. You're assuming a lot
I bet you right now that not one penny of that money will end up in the pocket of anyone other than a Bush crony.

We just let them steal $700 Billion from all of us...and many people cheered it on!

9. Sorry, there were actually DUers saying things like this today seriously
That this would allow people to "go back to normal"

The fear of changing the status quo is unbelievable, but as you say, it was a Darwin awards day, and most people earned one.

It will be interesting to see what they're all saying a year or so from now.

17. Bush said to go shopping
and gave the rich tax breaks. The rich fuck up and Bush invades the poor with the permission of the Senate - sounds familiar.

The fucking fawning corporate Greedia, who remained silent while the economy has been tanking for ages, are now telling us to be afraid, while giving the ruching rich more tax breaks.

Well lets see what other terra terra they can conjure up before November 4.

19. yeah, they're conjuring up a nasty one
it will now probably extend beyond the election, but when it hits -- and it will -- it's going to be that much worse because of this.

Lots and lots of terra in store, for sure...

7. A Sad Sad Day
I can't believe so many I have such faith in failed us tonight, but I can't say I'm surprised. Hell, I'm finding myself supporting both of my Republican Senators of Sessions and Shelby with regards to this bill. Fucking Pathetic.

13. 40% of the new car dealers...
...in town are closing their doors. Even the Toyota dealer is hurting.

Ford sales are down over 30% YOY.

Car loans are drying up.

The credit markets are seizing up worldwide. TED spreads are astronomical.

I don't like this bill at all. But there is a huge problem in the credit markets right now.

20. I don't think the credit mess is the only thing hurting car dealers
Because of the massive theft on the part of the oil industry, people are driving less, hence buying less cars. And the car dealers/mfgs who make the gas hogs are selling even less than the others. Granted, I don't have much sympathy if the "Hummer" or "Excusrsion" cease to exist, since most of those vehicles were NOT purchased by someone who actually needed to haul 8 people around in the first place. "Sport Utility" vehicles that were completely useless for sport and only marginally better for utility. Who needs them anyway?

Now I'm not saying everybody should drive a sub-compact egg crate. I'd be a hypocrite to say that, because it's physically impossible for me to do so. Never mind the Asian imports, even a lot of American & German cars are impossible to drive for those of us over 6 ft.
