I have information that my Representative's office is engaging in unethical/illegal campaign tactics

At least I THINK so. You tell me.

I have evidence that a congressional staffer working in my Rep's office is campaigning on message boards against the Democratic opponent, even raising the issue of her being a lesbian, and all of this is being done while he is "on the clock" working in the House office.

Can someone tell me if that is indeed unethical (sure seems like it) and whether I should contact the Democratic opponent's campaign?

I have screen shots, links, and even this staffer's name (it's in his profile).

I do NOT have information that the Rep himself is aware of this, or directing his staff to campaign on the internet.

1. Be absolutely sure that this is being done from the House Office
then file a complaint and see what happens

4. I am absolutely positive. He has even confimed it.
In a private message, I asked him why he's so concerned about gov't spending if he gets a taxpayer-funded paycheck to play on message boards. He responded, "I do this when my work is done."

3. My understanding is that it is against federal law to use public office to campaign.
If the staffer is using a public office and public equipment to campaign, it's illegal.

The chimp White House has been guilty of doing this a lot.

5. Here's what a legal firm's website says...
Federal appropriations law, and rules of both the House and Senate, generally prohibit the use of official resources—including staff time, supplies, equipment and official space—for campaign purposes, including for soliciting contributions. By rule in the Senate, only three specifically named "political fund designees" employed by each Senator's office may engage in any activities, including solicitations, related to campaign funds. And federal criminal law, at 18 U.S. Code § 607, makes it a potential felony offense for anyone, including members and staff of Congress, to solicit a political donation in any room, area or building of the House or Senate.

Complete article's here.

I hear there's good deals on tar and feathers all over the place these days.
