By Kristin Jensen

Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Former President Bill Clinton said Barack Obama has a better approach than John McCain for confronting the challenges facing the country.

``We have to elect a president who will rebuild the American Dream, repair a badly shattered financial system and restore America's standing in the world,'' Clinton said today in Orlando, Florida. ``Obama's answers are better.''

Clinton is making his first campaign appearance for Obama after his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton, lost to the Illinois senator in the Democratic primaries. While Hillary Clinton has held more than 40 events and fundraisers for Obama, her husband has been slower to jump out on the campaign trail.

The former president sought to dispel any doubts about his support for Obama as he spoke to more than 5,000 people at the University of Central Florida. He told the crowd, mostly college students, that Obama will mark a break from the policies of the last eight years that have left a ballooning deficit and helped cause an economic meltdown.

``It matters who the president is; it matters what the decisions are; it matters what the policies are,'' said Clinton, 62, the only Democrat in more than six decades to win two presidential elections. Obama has ``better understanding, better advisers and better instincts,'' Clinton said.

3. She has been keeping her word
I think she has done a fine job. She has done everything the party and the Obama campaign have asked of her.

9. Just think what Bill could have done if not for the witch hunts on him and his administration
by the lowly bastids who are taking us down today.

Is what I'll always remember about the Clinton years.
