Presidential Gut Feeling Check-in
I am sensing the biggest movement underneath me that I've felt since before the primaries started, let alone the general.

Barack Obama is winning this thing walking away.

This financial mess is the straw that did it. McCain looks unsteady and unstable. Obama is looking and acting **like a president**.

McCain tries for that maverick alpha male crap.

Meanwhile, without any posturing or pretending, Obama **is** the alpha male. The new Silverback.

And it is connecting.

My brother has been smelling a landslide for over a month now. I have not allowed myself to go there. But my gut is telling to just jump off the cliff and say it.

Landslide.

This is all based on NOTHING MORE THAN GUT FEELING.

What is your gut saying?

4. In Ohio and Florida Obama will need a 15% lead to win.
Caging is the new method of choice.

6. Ohio has a Dem Secretary of State
Florida is Florida. We can win without it. That said. I absolutely think we can win there.

I see a lot of late breakers breaking Obama.

Caging and other shit tactics are as old as our elections. The fact that you mention it means many people are aware of it .... and watching for it.

I'm not blowing off your concerns. They're very valid.

But I think we're ready for most of and will be sufficiently in the lead to overcome it.

Same thing with the Bradley/Wilder Effect. You can bet the farm that the campaign is aware of it and countering it as countering might be possible.

5. I haven't let myself get that hopeful, either.
But I really really do hope you are right.

I still think it is possible for them to STEAL the election (again). My co-workers are all McCain supporters, in fact one of them gave me his issue of Time magazine because it had Obama on it. He said he didn't want it on his coffee table. There are more McCain signs here than Obama signs in this town. But this is the heart of Fundie/Repub/Red country (SW Missouri) so maybe I can't gauge the rest of the population by comparing them with my area.

As an aside, one of my "friends" told me she doesn't like Michelle Obama, that she doesn't trust her. Geez. This friend used to tend to the left, but ever since she and her husband joined a large church in town they have steadily leaned further to the right.

At least a terror alert or another OBL tape. Maybe something else. These people will not go down without a HUGE HUGE fight.

10. We're in the October Surprise, I think.
They were either going to let this play out after the election so as to hang it on Obama or allow it to happen now. They see the trends so they did it now.

But I also think that a lot of them are simply sick of being in charge.

Two immutable laws of nature:

1 ~ Republicans are great opposers are shitty governors.

2 ~ Democrats are great governors and shitty opposers.

15. An Electoral College landslide,
certainly. The numbers already indicate that, and they will only get better for Obama. And when he wins, decisively, I AM going to allow myself one gloating post, aimed at all those people here who spent months screaming that he couldn't possibly win, and if he got the nomination, we were doomed.

16. Intrade agrees with your gut
Intrade Predicts an Obama Landslide

"Today's electoral map from www.intrade.com predicts a landslide for Obama. The bettors think he will sweep all the states Kerry won plus the swing states of Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada. The only swing state bettors think McCain will take is Missouri, which ironically is the best bellwether since 1900. If this map ends up being the final one, Obama wins 339 electoral votes to McCain's 200. Here it is."
