6. I can't think of a state that is less so.
No offense to any Alaskan DU'ers of course, but this statement is pretty ridiculous.

9. Clearly, our biggest mistake was making Alaska a state back in 1958.
I remember thinking at the time that it was a big mistake. And I was only 14 years old at the time. If the government had listened to me we wouldn't be in this mess right now.

13. Wasn't it only done to deliver a republican state to counterbalance...
the Democratic state of Hawaii (whose statehood was inevitable the next year)?

15. No, in actuality it was just the opposite.
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 10:08 PM by Blue_In_AK
Alaska was deeply Democratic at the time, and Eisenhower was reluctant to make us a state because it would affect the balance of power in the legislature. The only way he would agree to it is if Hawaii would be admitted the next year.

Her and Hugo have the same commie socialist idea that the oil under their feet should partially benefit the people.

I wonder why Pat Roberson hasn't called for her assassination.

20. i thank du
i entered a political show earlier this year, and was picked. on my entry i listed my country as dumbfuckistan. i would think that that helped, except that i had a small in with the juror, and probably couldn't really fail. but the best part is- every time i enter a show with that gallery, it comes up in from my cookies.

21. So has Tennessee. The East is red, the West is blue, and
the middle is Centrist (purple). Tennesseans wanted a Dem Senator in 2004, but we got Harold Ford (a DINO) vs a white man who played the race card. We wanted a DEM, not a DINO.

I honestly think that (despite the polls) that if some effort was spent, TN would be blue. TN voted for Clinton. TN WOULD have voted for Gore is he spent some time here, but he figured he had the "hometown boy" vote. Since then, TN has been red simply because Dems gave up on us.

BTW, I'm going to a HUGE Obama rally here in Nashville this weekend. An old friend of mine is performing! I'm psyched!
