CNN's Borger: Palin photo-ops silly, painful to watch and sometimes even alarming
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/30/borger.palin/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

In one bold stroke, John McCain threw away his "experience" argument in favor of reclaiming the "reform" mantle. To call it a gamble is an understatement; it was a crapshoot, with all the chips on one roll of the dice.

Then they decided to get really careful. And now Sarah Palin has become the first sequestered vice presidential candidate in American history. The original McCain campaign reaction to questions about Palin's qualifications was to complain the "media elite" were treating this nominee badly, with different standards, because a) she's a woman and b) she's an outsider. They then raised the point that she's got more managerial experience than Obama. All were plausible arguments (at least in the heat of a campaign).

But their case for Palin has been evaporating with remarkable speed. The more they hide her, each venture out into the open becomes magnified -- and her last attempts at tête-à-tête interviews have been disasters.

And that's the word Republicans use.

And when she isn't being hidden as she crams for her vice presidential debate, she has been let into public view for selective interviews and photo-ops that have been alternately silly, painful to watch and sometimes even alarming...

12. Doubt it...
this is just her "beard" so that she doesn't get canned from CNN after slobbering all over Palin's performance after the debate.

2. So report on that, would you CNN?
Fer heaven's sake, you've got a certified airhead running for the second highest office in the land, and you tamely allow her party to determine what you will and (mostly) will not show of her. This isn't some game of hide-and-seek where your producers try for a "get" with some coy-acting Hollywood star with a new movie to flog; this is the presidency, goddamit. Act like it matters, because for millions of people without fat six-figure salaries (and a few who do), this really does matter.

3. A quick glance at the "Comments" was quite telling
"Hey CNN News just forget it ok you are determined in everyway to discredit Sarah Palin so whats the end result. Since you people in the news media are so brilliant why don't you run for political office. Yes you sit on the sidelines and background and totally destroy or at least mock Sarah Palin and its unfair she has a right to run for political office and the last time I checked that is good information and we do live in a free society but maybe not according to you at CNN News totally absurd. None of the political candidates are perfect some have good ideas some not and Sarah Palin is included within that framework. So let the political process of electing the next pres and vice-pres continue and tone your attitude and be more respectful. As of now you are like a pack of wolves tearing to pieces a named political candidate and we all know who that is. I am very diappointed in the candor and smurk attitude of CNN News and for that matter alot of other news media people. I am very skeptical and have a low opinion of you people in the national news media arena.
Thats my comments Mary Ann"

7. Jesus--the McCain campaign didn't get "careful" because they wanted
to hide her light under a bushel--they realized that she KNEW NOTHING and wasn't learning her lines fast enough.

9. They got a pig in a poke.
And Todd's probably getting nervous because his position is becoming more tenuous by the day. There's no there there. She is handled by others. She is an empty bag of hair.

11. Yep--pig in a poke, perfect description. They bought her hype from
Alaska, and took the fundie endorsement of her seriously, without vetting at all--it wasn't until after they started "training" her that they realized what they were stuck with.
