Chapel Hill — Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards' campaign office in Chapel Hill was evacuated Wednesday after a staff member opened an envelope containing white powder.

Authorities were conducting tests on the substance, according to a news release issued by the campaign Wednesday evening.

"The health and safety of our staff and volunteers is obviously our paramount concern, so we contacted the authorities," the statement said.

"Our staff continues to be connected and working from home and the campaign continues to operate at full speed," it continued.

3. Yes, and it makes me so mad.
They know they can't win in the marketplace of ideas so they try to win through fear and intimidation.

Cowards they are.

8. Hmmm . . . I guess this is just a run of the mill thing now.
Pretty sad that the US has gotten to this point.

10. Every week the right-wingers are trying to do something to Edwards. Gee, I wonder why him so much.

During the primaries. There used to be a time, when primaries were Democrats going at Democrats and Republicans at Republicans. The Republicans are trying to take down Edwards early. They know who would be their greatest competition.

12. It was probably merely a gift from an overly zealous employee from the AEI
Part of a foreign policy gift basket:

1. White powder to snort
2. A world map to hang on the wall
3. A couple of darts to throw at the map

and voila, you've got yourself a foreign policy.

So let's wait and see if he get the map and darts in the mail over the next couple of days.
