Have to ask: For those outraged by the New Yorker cover, what about these...
A while back many Duer's were offended by the New Yorker cover entitled "The Politics of Fear" where the artist was trying to point out that to a ignorant number of Americans, they had fallen for the smears against Obama and his wife. Many people here argued that if we keep talking about this cover and the rumors, many more people will believe it. Also, in my opinion, many people misinterpreted the intent of the artist.

With these, what do people think of the SNL skit where John McCain is portrayed as doing radio ads and doing a very similar thing - the actor is repeating these same sort of rumors.

Also, then there is the recent cover of Entertainment Weekly where Steve Colbert and Jon Stewart are re-creating the New Yorker cover.

Thoughts?

1. Shock value is now worn out.
These lies are not being seen as lies by those who need to see them as lies.
The ones who believe the lies weren't gonna vote for Barack. They are the ones
who prefer ms. Moose hunter real scandals better.

4. except that that cover is based on something Palin actually said
Maybe not verbatim, but she expressed the sentiment. The Obama cover was too easily seen as a perpetuation of untruths from a magazine that was clearly, and I mean clearly pushing Hillary. I canceled my subscription over it and I'm a huge fan of the New Yorker. I miss it, but they've lost my trust.

3. In the SNL skit, it's the McCain campaign portraying Obama as scary...
...with the New Yorker cover, someone isn't shown doing the portraying.
