Well, I guess that leaves Osama Bin Laden off the hook
Now that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has confessed to every terrorist attack in the last 15 years as well as the JFK assassination (and maybe even Lincoln's), I guess we can be rest assured that the Bush administration knew exactly what it was doing when it refrained from capturing Osama bin Laden these last few years.

Funny thing is, I did a Nexis search on Khalid Sheikh Mohammed on the dates preceding Sept. 11, 2001 and his name did not come up a single time, despite the fact that this search encompasses hundreds of newspapers from around the world, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, London Times, Washington Post and Chicago Tribune.

I did the same pre-9/11 search on Osama bin Laden's name and I got more than 3,000 hits, including the following 1994 article from the Associated Press.

Saudi Family Disassociates Itself From 'Terrorist' Member
SECTION: International News
LENGTH: 177 words
DATELINE: RIYADH, Saudi Arabia

The Bin Laden family, one of the richest non-royal families in Saudi Arabia, issued a statement Saturday to disassociate itself from a member who has been widely linked to Islamic terrorist groups.

In a faxed message to Saudi newspapers, Bakr Mohammed Bin Laden, leader of the Jiddah-based family, expressed the family's "regret, denunciation and condemnation of all acts that Osama Bin Laden may have committed, which we do not condone and which we reject."

Osama Bin Laden, Bakr Mohammed Bin Laden's brother, is believed to be a prominent leader of the so-called Afghan Arabs - Arab Muslims who helped help the Muslim rebels of Afghanistan in that country's civil war in the 1980s.

The Afghan Arabs later returned to their homes to foster fundamentalist Islam, at times resorting to violence.

Osama Bin Laden has been mentioned in connection with a group tried in Yemen on charges of committing several acts of terrorism. They are said to be linked to bomb attacks on two hotels in Aden in December 1992 in which two Austrian tourists were killed.

But now we're learning that it was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, not Osama bin Laden, we needed to worry about all those years.

It makes me wonder where was our intelligence all those years when Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was committing all these atrocities.

It makes me wonder if perhaps Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was nothing but a no-name Muslim who was sleeping off a bad hangover when he was rudely awakened one morning and thrust before the world as a terrorist mastermind.

It makes me wonder if this is another crock of shit from the same government who told us that seven unarmed, impoverished men living in Liberty City, Miami were plotting to destroy the Chicago Sears Tower.

It makes me wonder exactly when did Osama bin Laden hand over his "911 mastermind" media title to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

9/11 mastermind confesses in Guantanamo

WASHINGTON - Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of others during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the
Pentagon.

Mohammed claimed responsibility for planning, financing, and training others for bombings ranging from the 1993 attack at the World Trade Center to the attempt by would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes.

In all, Mohammed said he was responsible for planning 29 individual attacks, including many that were never executed. The comments were included in a 26-page transcript released by the Pentagon, which also blacked out some of his remarks.

The Pentagon also released transcripts of the hearings of Abu Faraj al-Libi and Ramzi Binalshibh.

1. Funny thing 'bout that. He supposedly 'confessed' in February
but they're just now dragging out this earth-shattering info? Couldn't be for distraction purposes, could it. :eyes:

17. Perhaps they needed time to delete all the threats and torturous techniques
they used in acquiring this "confession" from their evidence tapes.

2. Sad, but most Americans will lap this up

We pissed off Osama after we abandoned him in Afghanistan. I don't think he understood the U.S. concept of a fair-weather friend. I wonder how many Americans will be happy with Khalid's head along with Saddam's.

9. Damn
You should have read my pre-edited version of this post where I called him a Ron Jeremy look-alike. But then I deleted it because I figured those who had no idea who Ron Jeremy was would do a google search under "images" and no telling what they might see.

19. Didn't McCain "confess" to the NVA that tortured him as well?
No confession is valid after torture......While it may be true it probably is only what the interrogators want to hear..
