Did Nancy Pelosi Punk the Republicans?

If Pelosi knew that the Republicans were going to hang the Democrats out to dry on the bailout, is it possible she deliberately goaded them into killing the bill, thereby letting them take the blame for the stock market plunge? Just wondering, because it seems to me that she'd never let the bill come up for a vote unless she knew where the votes were.
