Just an interesting coincidence I noted.
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 08:30 PM by Cerridwen
The day after pastors challenge IRS regulations and endorse candidates from the pulpit:

a conservative 'news'paper fails

a prosecutor (is finally) appointed to probe attorney firings

Hubble telescope failure delays space launch

The bailout was voted down 228-205-1 and in case you somehow haven't seen it yet, the stock market tanked with the DJIA down 777.68 points, S&P down 8.77 percent and Nasdaq down by 9%+.

Yeah, I don't believe it was a punishment from gawd. I doubt the pastors' followers would either as it would be a bit, er, inconvenient. I just thought the timing was...interesting. Do you suppose any church leader will have a "Come to Jesus" meeting with these pastors?

edit: had the vote numbers wrong. oops.

1. Funny you mention this.
I was thinking this morning about how... conclusively a failure is not only the shrub, but his party and the religious zealots he claims to represent. If I were God, I'd probably get a kick out of seeing it go down like it is. Too bad the rest of us may go down with the hypocrital asshat repukes but hey, misery loves company. :eyes:

2. I don't know how this will play out. I wish I did.
Economists appear to be against the bailout but the financial "experts" are warning of the end times.

I just kept thinking of all the snake oil salesmen telling their followers how so many natural disasters were punishment from gawd and yet these aren't seen by those same people as some form of punishment for refusing to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's".

Hypocrisy, thy name is snake-oil salesman.
