Emails to Rove show WH involvement in attorney firings.
How this man is still walking around with credibility, writing for Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, and being a Fox commentator is beyond my comprehension.

Rove Emails Spotlight White House Role in U.S. Attorney Firing

According to today's report, on October 2, 2006, Barnett e-mailed Karl Rove an article from a local paper expressing frustrations with the apparently stalled investigation into bribery of Democratic state Sen. Manny Aragon (NM).

In the email, Barnett blamed Iglesias' office for delaying the case against the Democratic lawmaker, something he had spoken to Goodling, Rove and Domenici about before according to conversations detailed in the report. Specifically, Barnett and Rove had discussed "kicking Iglesias. . . upstairs" as a way to get rid of him.

The October 2 email from Barnett to Rove again mentions the possibility of a "promotion" for Iglesias, and their face to face discussion of it the weekend before at a Republican fundraiser in New Mexico.

The email in question is trying to blame Iglesias for not prosecuting ACORN...one of the favorite targets of the GOP.

From Barnett to Karl Rove:

Karl,
This article confirms what I mentioned Saturday. An FBI agent told me more than six months ago that their investigation was done and been turned over to the US Attorney a long time ago. He said agents were totally frustrated with some even trying to get out of New Mexico. I can put you or anyone you designate with lawyers knowledgeable about the US Atty office - including lawyers in the office - that will show how poorly it is being run.

Scott Jennings was kind enough to set up an appointment at the Justice Department several months ago where Pat Rogers and I laid all this out. I hope Justice can now be persuaded to send out some cracker jack prosecutor and perhaps promote Iglesias to a Justice department position.

We still await the results of the task force Iglesias convened about this time two years ago on the clear Acorn fraudulent voter registrations. We were told it would look to (sic) "political" to indict anyone that close to the election. Then we never heard anything else.

Rove is just roving free as a bird. He may held in contempt by a congressional committee, but it does not bother him in the least.

James Carville still appears with him, and Carville's wife Mary is publishing his memoirs.

Mary Matalin's publishing company, doing Corsi's book, also Karl Rove's memoirs

NEW YORK (AP) — GOP strategist Karl Rove has agreed to write about his years as an adviser to President Bush in a deal worth over $1.5 million with former colleague Mary Matalin's conservative imprint at Simon & Schuster, officials said Friday.
Rove, the architect of Bush's 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns and one of the most influential political advisers of his time, signed the deal with Threshold Editions, the imprint's publisher and executive vice president Louise Burke said.

"All of us at Threshold are thrilled to publish the book from the man who had the president's ear for two terms," Burke said.

Rove's agent, attorney Robert Barnett, said Threshold was chosen over eight other bidding publishers. Threshold didn't say how much Rove would be paid, but the bidding reached at least $1.5 million, two publishing officials familiar with the bidding told The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity, a standard industry practice.

There seem to be no consequences for him at all.

2. More on this...
http://www.bradenton.com/politics/story/918957.html

"Bud Cummins, former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas:

Cummins was told to resign in June 2006. He left office that December.

Investigators found no basis for reports that Cummins was removed because he was "lazy." No agency performance appraisal had been completed "before Cummins was placed on the initial removal list." After his inclusion, the White House began pushing for Cummins' ouster. "The main reason for Cummins' removal, and the timing for his removal, was to provide a position for former White House employee (Timothy) Griffin." Griffin had previously been Karl Rove's deputy in the White House political office."

"David Iglesias, former U.S. attorney for New Mexico:

Iglesias was told to resign in December 2006. He announced his resignation the following month and left office in February 2007.

Iglesias was asked to resign because of complaints about voter fraud and public corruption cases by Republican members of Congress and party activists, including Sen. Pete Domenici. The report says Justice officials failed "to ensure that prosecutorial decisions would be based on the law, the evidence and department policy, not political pressure."

"John McKay, former U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington:

McKay was told to resign in December 2006 and announced his resignation later that month. He left the Seattle office in January 2007.

McKay's ouster was requested because of a dispute with top Justice Department officials over his push for a certain information-sharing system and several other reasons the report found questionable or false. Some of the justifications offered by the department for ousting McKay "severely undermined its credibility," the report says.

Investigators said their inability to interview key White House officials, including Rove and Harriet Miers, prevented them from determining the validity of complaints about McKay's handling of voter fraud allegations in the state's 2004 gubernatorial race."

That's just 3 of them.

6. Carol Lam's firing came as she was investigating corruption in Congress.
She had already won her case against Duke Cunningham, & she had just indicted Brent Wilkes & Kyle "Dusty" Foggo when she was told to resign.

4. This would be tossed in any court
Emails to someone are meaningless. Emails from someone are evidence.

5. Not my point. Shows involvement of WH. Another paragraph.
"But emails disclosed in the recently released IG report between Barnett, Domenici and White House political operative Karl Rove reveal that the complaints against Iglesias went beyond complaints to the Justice Department, and that the White House was aware and involved in the removal of Iglesias from his post as U.S. attorney."

That is from the TPM link.

It will never go to court to be tossed out. I never said it should.

Must be my day for not making points well.

9. This shows one ,,, the amazing power and control Bush/Cheney
And the republicans have over our country & its judicial
system....Or would you say dictatorship..

As the decider's right hand attorney general say ,, not every
crime is considers a crime to be proscuted..

Other words if the criminal is a loyal Bush republican then
they are above the law....otherwise they will be prosecuted
any way we wish or see fix,, even behind closed doors and
censored trials....

Do you really know who Bush might have in his secret jails and
behind bars with no oversite...

Today it is them ,, and tomorrow it might be you....

Of this administration be afraid ,,, be very afraid,,, they
have no soul or conscience...

17. Greg Palast
Remember this?

Palast: I know because I have Karl Rove's emails. No kidding. He and his team aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. They sent copies of their plans to GeorgeWBush.ORG instead of GeorgeWBush.COM addresses -- and, heh heh, they ended up in my in-box. Who says this job ain't fun?

Dollars & Sense: Bush fired eight prosecutors. You were behind the scenes on that story long before it broke in the US. What are they still withholding from us?
