2. Why do people bother with 'largest point drop' nonsense?
That is a stupid statistic. Percentage is what is important.

On Monday, Oct 19, 1987, the Dow dropped 508 points. That was 22%. If the same 22% drop happened today, the drop would be around 2200 points.

Today's drop represented 7%.

The drop on Oct 19, 1987 was 22%.

5. They are saying precisely this right now on CNN.
"Worst single-day point drop loss ever."
Now, its not the biggest PERCENTAGE drop, like someone up thread pointed out.

6. Percentage wise, YTD, it isn't even in the top 10 of all stock market dives.
