1. He's saying that the big boys in the affected companies have already made
plenty of money -- they won't be showing up in the unemployment line.

Those who need credit, to buy a car, a house, are the ones who will be hurt.

They didn't buckle to Paulson's initial threat.

Not as many changes as he would have liked, but some he feels good about.

If we defeat this bill today, the people who will feel the pain is Average American.

Next year we will put in place regulations to make sure this doesn't happen again.

But that doesn't help us today.

If we repudiate them and say we'll get over it, I believe the consequences will be severe. I hope this bill passes.

If we don't pass this, we're a strong country, it's not the end of the world, we'll still be getting up, sending our kids to school, but fewer of us will be having a job to go to.

NOT MY OPINION -- JUST REPORTING

do you see the repigs as obstructionists to this proposal, do they want just more money for their corporate friends and do NOT want any oversight? this is a damned if we do, damned if we don't situation.

3. Man, I just don't know, alyce --
I've heard good (what sound good to me, anyway) arguments for both sides of this issue.

And I'm with you that I question the Republicans' motives as to why they're not in support of this.

We're under the thumb here, and something must be decided either way, so we can regroup and carry on with our lives. Obama and others whom I trust are viewing the current bill as a positive. Although nobody likes it, they may feel it's the best we can do right now. But if the people I trust are supporting this, then they have my support. What else can I do?

What do you think?

5. Well, I know Pelosi is not a fan of many here but
she said she wants the repigs to join them jumping off the cliff together, cause I really do not want to see the Dems taking the fall for this, you know how the repigs play dirty.

but after yesterday Blunt and Boehner still didn't know how the votes would go. Messed up stuff.

but my days of sleeping in are over. A knot in my stomach always wakes me up early these days.

8. If the Repubs won't vote, the Dems shouldn't either, and make that clear.
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 09:08 AM by Waiting For Everyman
If they still balk, Dems should rework it to be everything they (we) want, and ram it through, take it or leave it.

Then if the banks are so desperate they'll take it, and if they don't, it's their choice.

These banks have no intention of lending anyway, and if they don't, what use are they? Take 'em out!

so will the repigs drive the stake into the hearts of the American people, what Repigs are for this?

the repigs are sounding like they are for the American people, they are playing us, I do not trust these repigs, maybe the Bill does not support what they want, and they are using us.

the repigs are sounding like they care about the american people, we know they don't, maybe they should scrap the whole thing, I really do not want to see the Dems taking the fall for this, this is all the repigs fault.

12. Maybe
those Republicans who are against this, crying "socialism!" "Unprecedented power to the Sec. of Treasury!" have seen the writing on the wall wrt to an Obama/Biden administration and are damned if the *Dems* will be allowed to have that much power? I dunno.

I'm watching too, and while I'm not keeping a scorecard, so far the speakers for and against seem pretty evenly divided between Rs and Ds.

Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 09:15 AM by Waiting For Everyman
I'm watching CNBC, and banks there are just the same and so are the markets.

We should NOT cave now.

We should get what we need it to be, at least in crude form - banks pay the freight themselves, and with real foreclosure relief, and a committment to heavy regulation to come, with very little money appropriated until next year, no automatic extension on it.

did not favor what they wanted. this 3 page thing turned to 110 pages, with oversight. but again are these guys rushing into something again, and screwing us.
