Not a SINGLE REPUBLICAN SENATOR better vote against the Bailout Bill
This is their mess, and they should be on the hook politically for the cleanup. If a single one of them is allowed to vote against it, then EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT should also vote against it.

The Patriot Act passed the Senate with 99 votes. (Thanks, Russ Feingold.) If this bill is so friggin' important to the nation then it better not pass with a simple majority. It already stinks to high heaven, but if Republican Senators are allowed political cover it will stink even more. This should NOT be allowed to happen.

1. Pelosi seems to be keenly aware of this
She takes a lot of criticism on this board, but she clearly sees part of her job as keeping her party in control of the House. No way will she let her own party take the fall for Bush's mess.

5. But it is going to happen
It will pass with mostly Dem support and when it fails, Dems will be blamed. Republicans will never support this bill as it is. And they shouldn't

10. No way will Pelosi bring it to the floor if Repubs won't back it.

3. What they should do is have 10 Dems and 10 Repubs vote first and see how it goes.
If there is consensus, then another 10-10, and then 10-10, etc. (and then Obama and McCain at the end), until all have voted.

This way, they can detect early on if there is an attempt to make it all one-sided via voting.

4. They just change their votes..I saw it today in a vote
when I tuned in it was D-219...R- 196..and a few minutes later it was D-195..R- 171..

I almost wish it were a secret ballot, so they could all vote their consciences..instead of what they think will get them re-elected

8. "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. said it wasn't a bailout but a "buy-in"
for taxpayers to rescue the economy."

Talk about putting lipstick on a pig.

Anyway, the Senate isn't voting today, it's the house. This thing is going to come down to the wire, and hopefully it tanks.

9. I agree with you.
Democrats can't let them off the hook. The balance of both houses rests depends upon it. Pelosi's 100 votes is bullshit.

11. They ALL will, except for a few who will be told to vote YES just to help it pass.
Then they'll blame the whole thing on the Democrats. Count on it.
