Why don't they have a bake sale and use the proceeds to fund the bailout and their bonuses and all? I know they need a lot more money than you can get from a regular bake sale, but they could sell eclairs and truffles and other expensive things like that, you know, the kind of pricy little desserts they serve in the restaurants where the CEO's have lunch...

2. Reminds me of a great poster, late '60s, early 70s?

...said something like, "what if schools had enough money and the air force had to hold a bake sale to build a new plane? It was much catchier than that, of course, but I always remembered it for the substance of it. It was my second favorite, after the one of three lovely young women (may have been Joan Baez and sisters?) that said, "Girls Say Yes to Boys Who Say No." (anti-war poster).
