I'm considering investing in a charitable annuity, with payments deferred until I retire--in 17 years. Does anyone have experience with this? Did it work well for you? It seems to me a good way to kill two birds with one stone (yikes! not a good analogy since, I'm thinking of investing with the HSUS!)--support a charity I care about, and adding retirement income. But with things as they are, one worries about the safety of any investment.

Not asking for advice so much as stories of experiences. I'm about 90% certain I'm going to do this.

Thanks!
