Kentucky McConnell is getting a run for his money - Oh happy day!
Even just a few weeks ago popular opinion at it that McConnell was definitely in the "safe" column for the rethugs. Wonder when the "pundits" will finally acknowledge that McConnell is no longer safe?

Bluegrass poll: McConnell, Lunsford race a dead heat

By Joseph Gerth September 27, 2008

The latest Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll shows that Kentucky's U.S. Senate race between Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Democrat Bruce Lunsford is a statistical tie.

The telephone survey of 717 likely voters taken last week showed that McConnell and Lunsford are in a dead heat when respondents were asked who they would vote for if the election were held "today."

McConnell moves ahead by one point when those who are undecided are asked which candidate they are leaning toward. The Bluegrass Poll, which was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

National Democrats have targeted McConnell, who by his role as minority leader must be Bush's chief defender in the U.S. Senate. And some Democrats see it as their chance to get retribution for the 2004 election, when Republicans successfully targeted then-Democratic Minority Leader Tom Daschle.

Read more about the poll in tomorrow's Courier-Journal.

2. Earmark Mitch
The current McConnell ad that runs 27/4 equates Mitch to some other "important" guy from KY who was Truman's VP. It says something like "As a leader in the Senate, McConnell can make sure that Kentucky gets the federal investment we deserve". the video is a running list of, you guessed it, earmarks that he's secured to upgrade the airport, add some bridge, etc, etc, etc. It's amazing that these guys can run national and state campaigns that are 180 degrees opposite of each other. Really, how is Mitch going to deliver all those earmarks next year if John is really going to get rid of them. Hmmm...maybe one of them is lying ? Nah...!

3. I Live in Lexington KY ...
This is a great poll...Lexington has more registered Democrats than Republicans but in the Senate and Presidential races have gone Republican. Such a dichotomy because they have also sent mostly Dems (even an openly gay man) to the state legislature. I have not seen very many yard signs for McCain but a lot for Obama and only Obama bumper stickers. I did see one bumper sticker that said "Americans Against Obama" and LOL...she was turning into the parking lot of the Republican HQ's. Moron. One can only hope that these people have had enough of McConnell's tactics and elect Lunsford. That will be a very happy day!!!
