6. It is a crime -
and I've, in no uncertain terms, let my (snort) reps (snort) know it.

2. There is a valid reason for the bailout plan

and why it has to come from government. The capitalist system is based on liquidity and trust. If everyone becomes insolvent then all capitalism falters. The private market can't guarantee it because they can default. The government has to guarantee it because it will not become insolvent. That is why T-Bills are always as good as gold. If worse comes to worse a government can print money. It will not go insolvent. That is why the government has to bail out the banking system. The financial system is the core of capitalism

4. Typical House Grandstanding
Remember, these are the same asshats who were protesting outside of Congress during the Summer break to "drill, drill, drill". These are the most rabid members of the GOOP...the "true believers" who are remnants of the DeLay cabal that turned the House into a cesspool. These are goons like Pence, Blackburn, Smith, Kantor, Bachmann...the bomb throwers on the far right who are out for the attention as much as they are for any real political purpose. Camp Gramps played them to make him look like a populist and the ploy failed. The collapse of the compromise is being thrown at their doorsteps and Gramps all but told them to go pound sand last night at the debate.

The pressure is on Boner to get his caucus in order...it's torn apart by this bail-out and it's becoming more divisive as time has gone by. Many moderate and social conservatives want this deal done so they can get home and campaign in tough races...these renegades come from relatively safe districts and this stunt is not going over well with the leadership. I wouldn't be surprised if Boner finally gave in...get a bill done and let the chips fall where they may.

5. The Repub house members should be forced
to come up with more than half the votes to pass this bailout. Leave them no room to blame the Dems for an action opposed by a majority of the people. I'm not in favor of the bailout, and don't know if it's really necessary, but if it is going to go through make the Repubs own it.

7. Nothing brings the opposition around quicker than making them work the weekend.
They seldom make it through to Sunday.
Admittedly, that'd work on me too.

8. Fantastic!
When those GOPers go home their bases will be furious with them. Maybe furious enough to refuse to vote for them on election day.
