6. I knew it was coming, but damn I'm in tears....
I have so much respect for Paul and Joanne. Paul, I have no doubt that you are at peace. You will be missed but forever remembered for the good that you did (and will continue to do through your charities) here on earth. May you now be reunited in spirit with your lost son of so many years ago.

So very sad to learn this today.... We lost one helluva good one.

so many have no idea how much you contributed to society, so some of us will have to let those people know. WHy? So that they know it's possible to do the good that you have done. To keep the light lit during dark times...

25. Breakfast with Newman
My Paul Newman story: I was staying at the Hotel Ponchartrain for the US Grand Prix and found myself arriving at the breakfast buffet table in the hotel restaurant at the same time as Mr. Newman. We were standing there eyeing the food when a chef popped out of the kitchen and asked him if there was anything that he could prepare specially for him. I chimed up "Mr. Newman would like 50 eggs - hard boiled!" It cracked him up to no end, I introduced myself and wished him luck in the race that weekend. We had a nice conversation and that was that!

27. Paul actually ended up with one of my mother's antiques
Not directly unfortunately,so we never got to meet the man. An antique easel she sold at a sale once made its way into Mr. Newman's hands from the person that bought it from mom.

28. RIP Paul Newman.
A man who was so likeable that even the rightwingers didn't complain about him despite his being a vocal liberal activist.

And more beautiful than any man had a right to be. Condolences to Joanne Woodward, also a stunningly beautiful person.

My friend waited on Paul and Joanne and some of their friends in a NYC restaurant. He said they couldn't have been more polite, low-key, and down to earth.

RIP, Paul. Thanks for all you've given us.

33. Last weekend, a young co-worker of my husband's, just "discovered" Paul Newman
She came over for dinner and we spent most of the evening talking about her newly found fascination with Paul Newman. Coincidentally, I had made a salad and spaghetti using Newman products. Anyway, she got us so worked up about him that we went out and rented Hombre. I just returned it yesterday.

Poor Joanne.

41. R.I.P. Paul Newman
I did not know until I woke up this morning that I heard that he died; I knew he was in poor health for some time. He was a great actor, even though I am ashamed to admit that I have never seen a lot of his films. The one that certainly comes to my mind now is "The Towering Inferno", where he shared top billing with another legendary actor who also personified cool, Steve McQueen. I remember studying parts of the script for "The Verdict" in a screenwriting class and it would be great if I could see more of his films. I should mention that I am studying acting in college, and if I ever become even half as good an actor as he was, then it will be truly saying something.
