90-100 to 1 against bailout!!!
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 08:25 AM by 4dsc
"At the end of the day these members represent the people who sent them here and the people who sent them here are so overwhelming opposed to this," the aide stressed, who noted that calls about the plan were running about 90-1 against the plan.

I wonder how many member's of the democratic party are going to risk this election by voting for this bailout??

1. This is a trap that will ruin the Dems for ever
and they are falling right in to it - again.

3. This how the GOP sandbags the Democratic party
Let the neo-liberals do the dirty deed while they sit back and laugh.

4. If the Democrats push this through, Obama will likely lose the election
And Democrats will be lucky to keep the Senate and House.

In fact, if they push it through, maybe they are trying to lose?

8. The sheeple don't understand the details
All they hear is about bailing out the crooks on Wall Street. Whatever the package is, it won't matter and they will act accordingly.

This is where the DLC earn their pay and is the reason the boys have been infiltrating and co-opting the democratic party. They knew this day was coming and have been implementing their victory strategy for decades.

10. Bingo. The DLC republican infiltrators have busted the Dem majority
over to the dark side. And there are many here on DU who either still don't get it, or get it and are part of the problem.

5. I wonder the same.
I say let Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity propose a solution. I'd love to have their solution critiqued by Paulsen and bank industry analysts.

9. This would be something news and different
I wonder why republicans are proposing their own bailout other than bush's??

6. So what was the percentage of Americans that supported
an invasion of Iraq at the time it was proposed? My point is, if one wants a proper debate on the subject, people need to know all options including the option of doing nothing and possible consequences.

7. Since I don't know the particulars of the bailout, only the headlines,
I can't specifically form my opinion. HOWEVER, I have never seen the answer of throwing a massive amount of money to the wolves who created the problem, as an answer. The people in this CNN poll are probably feeling the same way I do.

Many people are worried about their 401Ks etc. What they fail to admit is that these financial arrangements are a long term bet that the markets will provide profit. Decades ago citizens put their money into savings. Although the interest rates have been and are miserable, the money is safe and insured. With this in mind, it's no wonder that the average Joe is unhappy with the bailout. Life's a gamble.

11. When the credit cards no longer work this will turn, by then it is all too late.
Maybe people need the hard medicine. Democrats want a consensus, a consensus is not possible when dealing with Republicans.

14. If they do this bailout...and Obama wins....I hope he uses the Vt. Senator
plan about taxing...that could be a quick recovery....and he could still have some hope of doing some of his objectives during his Presidency.

but what do I know...I am against the bailout...and according to some people here..I am ignorant.

17. There is no easy answer, bail out or taxes.
This is why there is a full brigade of Army regulars stationing in the United States for crowd/riot control.

15. The GOP is trying to make the DEMS go in on the Bail-out alone.

The DEMS should be willing to let the Bail-out die if Mc-Nuts and the GOP does not sign on in advance of any vote.

I believe they are trying to setup us up to bailout the fat-cats. Then they will have a BIG FAT talking point for the next 40 days.

I hope the DEMS will not fall for it. Let Bush take 100% of the blame

16. You are right.
The democrats need to say "we tried, republicans killed it, best of luck with the impending crash."

18. Just saw a very somber Senator Bennett (R) on MSNBC say that some businesses can't meet payroll!
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 03:46 PM by 1776Forever
He said a car dealership owner in Utah called him and told him he is going to have to lay off all his workers if Congress doesn't get this done very soon. The owner said he tried to get a loan like he has for years and his local bank turned him down for the first time ever! I am no expert but if that is true then I think people like Lou Dobbs and others who are screaming at the TV about this being a "bailout" of Wall Street better make sure they sure as Hell know what the heck they are talking about! If we will go into a serious downturn with even more people being laid off and small business and ranches/farms going under is it worth the chance? I think I am going with doing something! If not the full Monty then something to try and stop this devastating roll of the dice!
