Taking Bets on whether or not they let Caribou Barbie in the Ring with Biden next week
As much as I'd like to see it - I don't think it will happen.

I'm thinking they will HAVE to keep her away from Biden by any means possible.

25. they tried to ditch this one to push hers back to later or perhaps
never and failed. I don't see how they can get hers canceled. The right wants her to quit. I don't know. She is a wrongheaded do or die never quit maniac.

3. Either she doesn't take part
or the repukes make it so scripted that all she has to do is answer "Yes" or "No".

I'm wondering, though, what spin they will try to put on her performance--my guess is "The big bad MAN was MEAN to the little WOMAN", or something like that.

7. They have no choice.
They will go with what they've got. Their minions will be all over the tubes agreeing beforehand that she will do badly in hopes she won't do quite as bad as they set the expectations for.

Their only play here is that Biden looks bad for having beaten her up so much. Joe will have to hold off and just let her demolish herself. Luckily, in addition to be being one of the most ignorant politicians I have ever seen on the national stage, she is also arrogant and nasty, a combination that will play directly against the only chance she has to not really hurt the ticket.

But it won't stick past the first hour after the debate....on FOX.

After that the analysts will also eat her alive. They already are. Read the NATIONAL REVIEW for godsakes!

41. History is also against those who try that "Biden beat up a girl" crap.
In 1984, Bush Sr. made a post-debate taunt toward Geraldine Ferraro, saying that he "kicked a little ass." About the same time, Bush Sr.'s wife, that Quaker Oats dude, said that she couldn't say what Ferraro really is, "but it rhymes with rich."

Biden should have no fear of going full throttle on Palin. If the McCain/Palin camp and their supporters cry foul, the Democrats can mock that Palin's no Geraldine Ferraro.

10. Biden on CNN
Was good. He was attempting to increase her expectations by saying that in watching previous video that she is good in debates. I personally think that expectations will be very low for Ms. Palin. McCain is trapped with her. They will have to push her into the spotlight. If she were to have a "family emergency" the conversation at this point would go directly to McCain's judgment. I think that after about a half hour of the debate she will completely fall apart and just give Miss South Carolina answers. I think that she is so overloaded with information that she can't keep it straight in her precious little head.

15. Someone make sure to tell Biden...
NOT, and I mean NOT!, to use the phrase "What Governor Palin doesn't understand is..."

I am almost sure it was a trap laid by McCain for Biden to use on Palin to undermine her experience, in the same way he was using to undermine Obama's experience and knowledge. They are goading Biden, and if he takes the bait, the whole debate will be useless, as the MSM will only be talking about how the Big Bad Biden Bullied poor lil' Mrs Palin, and was obviously being sexist.

Nothing new, but I did find it odd, and irritating how McCain kept repeating that line. I swear, that is why I cannot be in a debate. I might have hit him for insulting my intelligence over and over.

Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 12:43 PM by A-Schwarzenegger
She should come out and say, like the Admiral, "What am I doing here?"
And then everybody will love her again.

As bad as she'll do, they have to send her out only because
not sending her out would be worse.

29. I'll take that bet in a heartbeat
Of course she'll debate. And don't be surprised if she's not a total disaster. First of all, expectations have been set so low -- below basement level -- that there's really no way she can do as badly as is being predicted. Second, I've prepped witnesses (for hearings, depositions, trials, etc). and even the worst of them can get by with a passing grade if a decent prep job is done. The mccain/palin folks know where her limitations are. They are going to push for her to be "likable" not a policy wonk or a strong leader. Just a likable "maverick" type person. That's going to be their goal.

33. I am already having SNL flashbacks
Sam Donaldson: Vice-President Bush, there are millions of homeless in this country - children who go hungry, and lacking in other basic necessities. How would the Bush administration achieve your stated goal of making this a kinder, gentler nation?

George Bush: Well, that is a big problem, Sam, and unfortunately the format of these debates makes it hard to give you a complete answer. If I had more time, I could spell out the program in greater detail, but I'm afraid, in a short answer like this, all I can say is we're on track - we can do more - but we're getting the job done, so let's stay on course, a thousand points of light. Well, unfortunately, I guess my time is up.

Diane Sawyer: Mr. Vice-President, you still have a minute-twenty.

George Bush: What? That can't be right. I must have spoken for at least two minutes.

Diane Sawyer: No, just forty seconds, Mr. Vice-President.

George Bush: Really? Well, if I didn't use the time then, I must have just used the time now, talking about it.

Diane Sawyer: No, no, Mr. Vice-President, it's not being counted against you.

George Bush: Well, I just don't want it to count against Governor Dukakis' time.

Diane Sawyer: It won't. It will come out of the post-debate commentary.

George Bush: Do you think that's a good idea?

Diane Sawyer: You still have a minute-twenty, Mr. Vice-President.

George Bush: Well, more has to be done, sure. But the programs we have in place are doing the job, so let's keep on track and stay the course.

Diane Sawyer: You have fifty seconds left, Mr. Vice-President.

George Bush: Let me sum up. On track, stay the course. Thousand points of light.

Priceless!
