What's up with DA Lynne M. Abraham?

This is really scarey...

“The law is that when you set in motion a chain of events,” District Attorney Lynne M. Abraham said, “a perpetrator of a crime is responsible for every single thing that flows from that chain of events, no matter how distant, as long as we can prove the chain is unbroken.”

"No matter how distant" here refers to a shooting 41 years ago where the victim died this year of a urinary tract infection.

1. If the physical damage from the shooting

caused the organ failure years later it can be used. There's plenty of legal precedent for that. But this case does seem to be stretching.

plenty of legal precedent for it,as any viewer of Law & Order knows. But this case is a bit of a stretch--I expect to see it appear as an episode on that venerable old show next year.
