An obnoxious republican got fired at work today
This afternoon I got a message from my boss to let me know that one of the people in my group had been fired, this came as a total surprise to me because the woman fired was extremely good at her job. And quite frankly it takes real effort to get fired around here.

Because at any given time we might have a dozen or more long-term guests in our SoCal office we bought a bunch of condos near our offices for the long-term visitors.

In any event this individual and her husband were using the company condos to host swinger parties and this past weekend some sort of altercation that saw the police called took place at one of their parties and there were arrests among their guests for drug possession and disorderly conduct.

What makes this most interesting is this woman and her husband were politically active and vocal republicans, her car is plastered in trashy bumper stickers on every subject from abortion to Cheney 2008 to gun control to the iraq war and illegal immigration to preserving marriage to you get the idea…

And they were engaging in god only knows what acts of sodomy and other crimes against god on company property…

I am sort of sorry to see her fired because she was extremely good at her job – although I am astonished that somebody would blow a $90,000 job for this, how hard is it to get a hotel room?

Although I get a certain satisfaction out of seeing these mega-church assholes get busted for SIN as a militantly godless liberal who has never had the urge to do any of these things republicans seem to get busted for with great regularity.

Now I will join the new company hobby of trying to find all the stuff this pitiful pair has posted on the internet, within half an hour of being fired people had already found two of their swinger profiles. We are guessing they might have had some noteworthy party guests…

6. People like this LOVE the evangelical mega-churches,
because they teach them that greed is good, and that they are forgiven no matter what they do. So it's a free pass.

Immoral idiots love evangelical Christianity because they are free to do whatever they please and as long as they pray to the magic man in the sky, they can pretend that they are better than everybody else.

I have a brother in law like this. He has illegitimate children spread all across the country, he's been an alcoholic and drug addict yet he thinks he's better than everyone else because he has religion.

Took the words out of my mouth. Being raised Catholic, but am not a practitioner, one thing I came away with was being contrite, meaning to me, forgiveness was not approved unless you are truly sorry and then completely change the behavior that offends God. I don't know where along the way the latter part was lost on evangelicals. I doubt your co-worker will ever see how wrong she is to take such blatant advantage of the company, because Jesus will forgive her later, no matter what.

24. You reminded me of a funny story.
"Ryan's Daughter" was a very racy movie when it came out, because it dealt with a married Irish woman who has an affair with a British soldier. My former supervisor was a student in a Catholic girl's school at the time, and one of the sisters took a group of girls to see it. When it ended, and the lights came up, these girls were sitting there with open mouths, amazed that they had been allowed to see this movie full of sex. The nun turned to them and said: "Well, her problem was, she didn't have a firm purpose of amendment." LOL!

40. As a Lutheran there was a phrase I used to hear (I think
it was mostly in jest). It was "Sin boldly that Grace may abound." We never got away with anything bold though since everthing would get back to the Pastor!

10. unfortunately it seems almost typical
behavior for the most "principled and moral" people. They rail outwardly at behavior that they themselves engage in. When caught, they attribute the behavior to "the devil" or "I was weak but now I am strong again, so we should just let this go". They same behavior they would crucify anybody else for engaging in. Hypocrisy knows no bounds.

16. Thats
where the "born again" crap tends to come in. you go out, sin like mad, then suddenly "find god" and label yourself "born again" and suddenly everything is ok, and all your past is forgiven.

Glad I was born right the first time... lol

works the same with fireman insignia's and stuff, less likely to get pulled over for minor traffic violations.

22. Not always. Some cops see through the stickers for the attempted bribery they really are.

And they take that as an insult to their intelligence and honor, and as a result, are much less likely to cut the driver any slack when the ticket book comes out.

Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 11:21 AM by AzNick
I could make $20K more by moving from AZ to SoCal and have considered the move myself, but the higher cost of living, longer commutes... and some nasty people looking at you sideways... thanks, but no thanks.

What bothers me in the story is not the swinging part. What bothers me is the lack of integrity from somebody who mixes sex life and work, but also in a very disrespectful manner.

Using company asset for this is plain wrong and, once again, shows the talk the talk, run the opposite way of the walk attitude of so many Republicans.

29. cost of living is killer
The only reason my ass can afford to live there is because my parents helped me with a down payment when real estate cratered in the early 90's - so I had mortgage payments smaller than most peoples SUV payments.

What blew me away is not that they are swingers - but that they would take such a massive Larry Craig like risk - you can only do something like this for so long without getting caught.

Our university offers a masters in public administration, and they are starting (or were starting) a public policy institute. I was considering the masters program in public administration.

Is it any fun at all? I mean, orgies aside?

I work in the arts now. I've been doing the same work for almost 30 years and it's getting harder and harder. In reality it's more like running a support group. I've found the mediation and negotiation classes I've taken recently to be very interesting.

33. it is an interesting role
As it combines near executive level responsibility with some of the most tedious administrative work imaginable and you will be up all night doing it because the issues you will often be dealing with are outside the ability of the average paralegal type. Mediation and negotiation are a big part of it - but sometimes you just have to go Bill O'Reiley on people.

It can also really suck, I spent a good part of this and last year getting yelled at by a rent-a-mob who showed up at the hearings because some of Frank Luntz trolls were handing out Best Buy giftcards to people who made a scene.

except in this case, it's the republican-can corollary.

It's not that they believe that government shouldn't be in people's private lives; it's that government shouldn't be in THEIR private lives and all in YOUR, i.e. any and all non-republican, private lives.
