5. He did OK, but his trollish demeanor showed he doesn't have the temperament to be President
Not looking at Obama was jerkish at best.

6. And that is what I saw, an old man who was about to tell the young man
to get off his lawn

We saw a man who's all but adequate to take over the presidency

7. i think that's a fair assessment. unfortunately.
with his bluster & erraticity the past few days, i half-expected some combination of doddering and belligerent, in a curmudgeony kind of way...but he actually- maintained.

8. Yes, McCain had a strong night.
McCain's experience was showing. He is a politician who knows how to win, regardless of how f*cked up his platform, and Obama can concede nothing to him.

Never defend - attack.

9. The different takes on this debate..
are very interesting. For some Obama's substance, demeanor, and articulate responses means hands down that he won. For some the aggressive pit bull tactics of John McCain, regardless of content means that he won. It doesn't matter that he lied, it doesn't matter that he was condescending, it doesn't matter how he droned on and on, it is only because he was confrontational and demeaning that he is declared the winner.

10. Guess I will post my feelings again.

Senator McCain treated the moderator as if he were an interviewer. Senator McCain looked weak because he would not look at or speak directly to Senator Obama. By contrast, Senator Obama did this often to Senator McCain.

I think Obama had more measured and thoughtful responses. He gave Senator McCain his due with they agreed on issues and gave him proper credit when appropriate. That made him seem more reasonable and intelligent. McCain seemed timid and rehearsed. He seemed hardly in a debate.

I have little faith in him standing up to folks that need to be opposed if he won't even do it well against the fellow he is running against in a polite debate.

Senator Obama won on more levels than one.
