why McCain worked the condescending "he doesn't understand" line -- b/c our strongest meme is
that McCain JUST DOESN'T GET IT when it comes to the middle class (i.e. that most of us earn way less than 5 million a year and know full well how many houses we own).

the most noble truth we have on our side is that Obama is one of us. McCain is trying to neuter that meme, and we better hit it hard if we want to win this election.

3. agreed -- and i think that Obama emerged as the candidate most likely to reach across the aisle.
that's the upshot of his "McCain is right about that" stuff.

9. But, that's stage one.
The next stage is to show that McCain's word does not match his actions.

Thats what liars do.

They say one thing, and do another.

McCain may say all kinds of things, but give him time, he will change his mind and give him more time, he will do the opposite.

10. i'm so damn tired of these people LYING constantly and it passing for "debate"
it's not a debate for one person to speak the truth and the other to lie thru their teeth and act petulant. it's not even being recognized as bad political theater. we just let them get away with it and say, "McCain was forceful." well yeah, you have to shove shit down people's throats b/c most won't swallow it otherwise.

4. i was disappointed in the initial spin -- but it seems like what's sinking in might be
more substantive than McCain's attempts at linguistic voodoo.

7. Surprised he didn't call Obama "boy"
McShame was outrageously disrespectful to Obama. And he had to offer, "When I came back from prison" which was a complete non sequitur, in the last seconds

8. you are so right -- his tone and body language was utterly contemptuous.
and, here's a thought -- if you want people to think of you as a maverick, you don't refer to YOURSELF as such. nothing is less maverickilous.
